Me and some friends are planning to try our hand at growing outside this year. We found a great spot next to a creek and one of my buddies suggested of a way he heard about growing in a creek.
You take chicken wire that gets very small holes near the bottom and make a cylinder out in the water. You fill the cylinder with grow rocks a couple inches above the water line. Then place at least a few inches of peat moss above the grow rocks, and then the plants. This does seem like a great idea, but does anyone know if it will still get enough nutrients? |

I'm guessing that there shd b enough nutes as the river/stream will wash them down from the soil further up stream. However the water level wont stay constant. In the summer it will drop and all u need is a thunder storm to make the river rise a few inches and it will prob wash the plant and wire away unless u really tie it down but then the force of the water might break the plant. Good idea tho, but you won't know if it does work until you try it
