dunno where you heard that but when the preflowers start showing, is when its ready to bud. for me it usually takes 4-5 weeks.

marijuana is photo dependent. this means that unlike corn(usually done 90 days after planting)and many other plants, it will only flower when the daylight hours become short enough for your particular strain to flower. that means you could start a plant in janruary or june and it would still start budding around the same time. fall, thats the easy answer, your plant will flower in fall.

I would like to add that indoors a plant can be started in the 12 hours dark 12 hours light that they need to flower and will start flowering at just a few inches tall, there is no time needed to get "good bud" however the bigger the plant the higher the yeild usually.

uhhh beaner, wtf?, if you were to plant them in january you could start to see buds in march. and the size of a plant does not determine how potent it is.

doobsday hes talking about flowering outdoors, if you dont induce flowering, it will naturally flower after the autmnal equinox when its just about 12 hours light 12 hours dark

MAN,you need to read GROWFAQ up above the top of this page. You are in control of when they bud, and you determine when.
are you growing indoors or outside? If inside, soil or hydro? You control the size and height by when you start the BLOOM or FLOWER stage.
IF INDOORS, when you are ready to start the Flowering OR budding stage, you fool them into thinking it is Fall or Autumn, and winter is coming, by reducing the lights TO 12/12. You have a lot of reading and studying to do.

yes i know, but plants can flower right after the spring equinox as well, becuse the suns cycle is still close to 12/12.
