yea good point. i would say just go ahead and grow it in the tree, and then when the leaves change color find a spot on the ground to grow; if you want.
but i think that you could just leave it in the tree the whole time, as long as the trees not in a people populated area.

bugs: i would say its less of a problem. i mean sure there will be bugs, but there are alot more bugs on the ground. (bugs stay close to moisture, which is at the ground)
if you grow in a tree, just spray the lower branches/leaves with an organic pesticide. or something else that keeps bugs away.
also you should go ahead and pee at the base of your tree,this will keep away any unwanted creatures from climbing your tree. anytime you have to pee while your in the woods...pee on yo tree

wind: yea, on some days your plant might have to go through a little bit of turbulance. so just make sure your soil base is mounted up well. if your plant is of good size, the wind shouldnt hurt it.

yea the ice storm tip is basically. even if the tree looks fine after the storm trees can be weakend for the rest of the year by the ice. There will be more down branches during thunderstorms.

If you guys are worried about the trees changing color and leaves falling off of them, just use an evergreen. Pine trees are easy to climb and if you have ever climbed one, you should have noticed that the branches out of the main trunk grow out next to each other, making for a solid, level mounting base.

It seems that bad wind/rain storm would seriously fuck your shit up. I live in the mid atlantic region. An area that has pretty tame weather, and even some of the storms around here get real violent. Just picturing a potted plant at the top of one of those trees during a storm makes me very hesitant to try this. Well, the area I live in is infested with deer, so who knows.

Eh i dont think they'll mind the wind I do think you'll need to find a big tree lol and weight/strap the pot down

and today in other news, rouge buckets containing marijuana plants have been seen falling from tree tops. police urge you to look out for falling pot plants.


i just could not see how this is really a feasable method of outdoor growing.

I'm not closed minded I would just find somewhere easier to grow than a tree top. i've had the idea before but never had to resort to it. just get out and find more places to grow.

i thought i was the first one to think of that.hm. just one question. when you lower your plant and water it. then u raise it again.
1. how are you going to keep the bucket straight while it raises? and even more so when the plant gets big. if the rope is off ballance, then the bucket will tilt. the plant might snag. and it would be hard.
if you wanna trim half the tree off, then maybe.
i would find tree with ivey on it. put the plant at the top. put a clear vynil hose going from your plant to the ground(manipulate the ivey to encourage growth to hide it.) every time you come to the plant just bring some water and a hand pump. like hand opperated petrol pump.

also, if the tree is fat and you cut a hole say at a fork near the top you could drill an irrigation chanel at an agle so that it could drain(sorry if this is hard to picture) and use shaman's burlap sack idea and just put some soil and a plant in the sack and the sack in the hole. the wound in the tree would leak water from inside the tree(i dunno for how long though)
