If you grow organically & have never used Bunny Manure - consider it.
The NPK value of fresh bunny poop is 2.4-1.4-.6 So, it is actually stronger than chicken manure. . To use it - I like to make a tea & water in. One cup of fresh bunny poop per gallon of unchlorinated water. Bubble it with a cheap aquarium air pump / stone for a couple of days. or Pour it bucket to bucket, twice daily for three days. The left over crude - goes in the compost barrel. . or . Sun dry it - it turns to dust - top dress (2) tablespoons per gallon of soil in a container or 8 tablespoons max. - if top dressing a in ground plant. . & last but not least. Compost it. It really adds lots of good material to you compost & speeds things along - because of the high N content. If you vermicompost - add one cup per gallon of bedding / medium weekly. The worms will do the rest. Extra sweet Worm Castings..... . Keep it Real .. Organic ... cause if we don't recycle, reuse & garden responsibly - what kind of world will our kids & grandkids end up living in ? . . Last edited by Ohsogreen; 07-27-2008 at 10:49 AM.. |

If I start a bunny farm, will you take all the poop that I don't use? They shit more than will ever be useful! But a much nicer clean-up than chicken shit, I have to say. I'll have to consider stopping by the local petshop... You think they'll trip when I ask for all the rabbit shit?

I'd take it all....I've got a 3/4 ton truck - just tell me where to back it up. I'll even load it all & buy you a beer. . As for the Petstore... No, just tell them you are an Organic Gardener. Lots of people get used coffee grounds from Starbucks & poop from Petstores for their Compost Barrel or Garden. No Red Flags there, unless you show up wearing tie dye, smelling of ganja, red eyed - munching on a bag of Doritos....LOL . But seriously...No red flags there or even at the Zoo - two words " Elephant Poop " - they sell it from the Little Rock Zoo to Organic Farmers all over town. I see it leave in the back of Fords & BMW's, with not an eyebrow raised. . Keep it Real...Organic..... . . |

Awesome! I have a friend that works at Petco, I'll see what he can come up with.
I gotta try the tie-dye shirt and marijuana cologne thing and see what they'll say. Which type of Doritos should I get? Instead of doing searches and whatnot, I'll ask you: What chemical properties would the elephant poo have? I've never even pondered the idea.

Cool...see being Organic is a good thing. Recycle, reuse, garden responsibly. . I'd go with Nacho Cheese.... . NPK value of Elephant Poop is 1-.9-.6 on average (plus it is almost odor free). Hotlink to a neat article : Fashionable Fertilizer Solves a Disposal Problem for Zoos - New York Times . . Live Organic or Die..Sorry, I just have strong opinons on some subjects.. . . |

What a cool article. It's amazing to hear about the Woodland Park Zoo being sold out through the summer. I live close to there, and was thinking about stopping by, but it seems they have a high request for their poo! It's amazing to think about what can be recycled and reused! One mans poo is another mans gold? Right? Lol. You've turned me on to a new way... a better way... Praise Poo

Yes... Most poo is good, at the end of the day NPK is NPK. But coming from a butt - it's a renewable resource. . Knowing the values & the basics on how to use them - makes it seem less strange. . Brendon420 - I have no experience with small bird poo, sorry. I hear it is very hot N wise though. So, it might be best - not to use it. . As far as the others - I'd personally use most animal manures - with the exception of pig manure or feed lot cattle manure - both can pass on parasites & pathogens. Composted cattle manure is OK, but I always buy it, run it through my Compost Barrel first - cause I'm just picky & a little untrusting. . . OK, we have opened up a can of worms, talked about some Zoo Poo - So, now I expect for some comments to start pouring in. Please keep them tasteful. . Poo Power.... Growing the Chronic.....with plants that are Bionic...... . |
