heh, us organic farmers kinda blend into the scenery dont we....

If i had a bunch of small bird poo i would definitely add it to my compost pile, but its probably too hot to use directly.

What about dog poo, Oh So Green? It's been sitting in the sun all summer, is it OK to add to the compost heap yet? I promise not to use it until next year

Can you keep chickens and rabbits in the same pen?

Dog poop is a complete no go for Ohsogreen, & so is cat shit... Both can pass on parasites & pathogens... Nasty....Yuck.......
.
For the chickens & rabbit question - beats me - you'll have to ask Farmer Brown - I live in the Burbs....

Bonze309 Since your barn represents a sheltered area, just like a Cave is a shelter area for Bat Guano, your in luck. All the cow or horse manure in there, has been sheltered from the elements - it has broken down slowly over time. Which means more nutrients & trace minerals were retained.
.
The first 8 inches of soil in there will be chocked full of trace minerals and have a nice mellow NPK of probably 1-1-1. I throw out that number, becasue I cleaned out an old horse barn that had not been used for 5 years.
.
I tested the composted manure / soil I got out of there and was pleasantly suprised - a NPK of 1-1-1. I grew a real nice garden using it. Plus, since so much time had elasped the pH was a nice mellow 6.5
.
So, dig up a test bucket & test it. The gold is still there......
.

I bought a soil test kit from Home Depot for about $ 12. It comes with several little see-thru test containers - one for pH, one for N, one for P and one for K.
.
You just take the included measuring scoop, scoop up some soil to test, add the contents of the appropriate test capsule to your soil - in the labeled test container. You then add a little of the included reagent (in like a eye dropper bottle), shake it up & your soil changes color - depending on how much of a particular element is in the soil sample. It gives you a color comparison chart, right on the little see thru soil test container (for each element). You eyeball it, like with using those test kits for swimming pool water.
.
I tested several samples of known potting soil to check how accurate is was. It was pretty much on the money each time.
.
Cheap, Easy & Pretty Acurate.

Like the thread dude. I'm glad to see other growers are using natural ferts.
Too many of these Generation X types, growing hydro, using only ferts from a bottle.
They don't know what they are missing. Soil grown, Organic Buds taste Best !!!!

+rep for good info.
