Secondly, don't bother with bat guano - there's really no need to - all you need is Biobizz grow and bloom and epsom salts if you start getting any Mg deficiencies. Biobizz's feeding schedule is based on growing in Allmix soil and plants from clones and so may not be ideal for your own situation. I've followed this feed schedule and it seems to work well for me, you may need to adjust it for your own circumstances - Flowering All quantities per litre Week 1 1mil grow, 1 mil bloom Week 2 1mil grow, 2 mil bloom Week 3 1mil grow, 2 mil bloom Week 4 1mil grow, 3 mil bloom Week 5 1mil grow, 3 mil bloom Week 6 2mil grow, 1 mil bloom Week 7 2mil grow, 1 mil bloom Week 8 2mil grow, 1 mil bloom Week 9 2mil grow, 1 mil bloom No need to flush at the end with organic nutrients. |

Cheers for your detailed response Babygro. The Canna soil mix is virtually the same as the BioBizz all mix, at least that's what the hydro shop told me.
I did consdier the Canna organic nutes as well, but went for BioBizz in the end. No real reason to be honest, both were highly recommended to me. I also looked at Nirvana's organic nutes as well as that is where I got my seeds. My feeding schedule is similar to yours so far. Just feeding 1 mil per litre of the BioGrow and Alg-a-mic at the moment, but alternating with clean PH'd water as well. Didn't want to overdo things. Do you feed with BioBiz every watering? I'll probably give the Guano a miss this time then and just continue to use the BioBizz nutes as you recommend. At least I know my plants will be familiar with being repotted into the same soil mix. Cheers man!

In flowering I do yes, not in vegetative growth. It's important to understand why you need to feed with liquid nutrients. In an ideal scenario, you wouldn't feed any additional nutrients - because the plant would get as much as it needs to from the soil - but we don't operate in 'ideal scenarios' but we can bring them as close to 'ideal' as we can. From germination and seedling the plant would be in a 4 inch pot, which it would stay in for about 2-3 weeks as it develops it's rootball. Good quality soil (and Canna is good quality soil) should contain sufficient nutrients for 3-4 weeks healthy growth, so if we pot up from the 4 inch pot to 8 inches after about 3 weeks we won't need to feed any additional nutrients. Same applies to the 8 inch pot, where we're again looking for the plant to fill out its rootball before we pot up to it's final pot of 12 inches, so again no nutrient feeding is required. Once in it's final 12 inch pot size, we again wait for it to fill out it's rootball before putting it into flowering, this again should take about 2-3 weeks, so again no nutrient feeding would be required. Once the plant goes into flowering, it's probably only got about 1-2 weeks of nutrients left in the soil and that's when we need to start supplementing the depleted soil nutrients with liquid nutrients at every watering. This is just a guide - you need your plants to tell you when they want feeding, because every strain is different and will use different quantities of nutrients - you may find that in vegetative growth towards the end of the time in the pot you need to just boost the N a little with a small quantity of BBiz grow or alga-mic - but don't overdo it ! No problem - I wish you well with your grow. |

Thanks again babygro, that's good advice for me. I waited until my plants had been in their 6" pots for a couple of weeks after repotting before feeding at half strength for the first time. But from what you say, I probably could of gone a bit longer with them just feeding off my nice soil.
I'll watch it with the Alg-a-mic too. My plan is to put them in their final pots this weekend, then leave 'em to veg and root into their new pots for a couple of weeks under my new 400W HPS, then they'll be going on 12/12. Like you say, it's all about knowing your plants and responding to what they tell you they need. Less is more and all that!

hey SnowWhite,
I recently went to the hydro shop and got some complementary bat shit with some BioBizz-Bloom. Its working really nice for me. I started a post until I saw this one and that you and I were using identical nutes, soil, and was wondering about guano! would be odd if we shopped at the same hydro store! for my guano i put a litre of tap water in an old 1ltr juice bottle and add an air stone to it for 24hrs (gets rid of chlorine in city water and adds oxygen?) then i just put 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of guano in it, add my biobizz products and bubble for a further 24hrs/however long until next watering. i find the guano settles to the bottom in a very short space of time so everytime i walk in the kitchen i give the mush at the bottom a stab with the air stone or give the bottle a shake just to make sure i get all the goodies |
