I haven't checked this forum in a bit so I hope I'm not repeating other people's questions, but there was a thread when I was growing last summer about using urine as a fertilizer for your plants. I'm just wondering if anyone knows about this or I am just asking stupid questions?

ROFL.... Peeing on your plants?????? You have GOT to be kidding me! Urine is FULL of ACID.... unless you follow a strict maco-biotic diet.
Listen buddy... don't pee in your plant's soil.... unless you are 13 years old... then by all means pee away because you shouldn't be growing in the first place.

i've seen evergreen trees die from dogs pissin on them too much.
dont even think about pissin on your stuff. ps. odd fact:male dog urine isnt as bad for plants because its more diluted. they drink more water than bitches because they mark their territory.

I don't see why you would even bother coming into a thread with such a load of unconstructive crap to deliver. People are looking for advice... ugh, fuck it, fuck it....
Dilute at a level no less than 1:9 (urine: water). This will add nitrogen and disease-fighting enzymes, as well as trace plant hormone assuming you have a healthy, balanced diet. If you have a diet high in soy, you may notice increased flowering in the females. ALWAYS dilute though! Urine is too acidic to be added straight.

I just googled this ( i guess I could have done that before) and found info that is pretty interesting. Here it is in case anyone else is interested...
Just so that you know, fresh human urine is sterile (unless there is a urinary tract infection – this urine should not be used) and so free from bacteria. I recommend that you dilute urine to 10-15 parts water to 1 part urine for application on plants in the growth stage. Dilute to 30-50 parts water to 1 part urine for use on pot plants as they are much more sensitive to fertilizers of any kind. Trees, shrubs and lawn should cope well without dilution. Withhold the use of urine liquid fertilizer on all food plants at least two weeks before harvesting. Apply under fruiting plants, not directly on foliage. Don’t use urine older than 24hours on your plants as the urea turns into ammonia and will burn your plants. If it’s not fresh, add it to your compost heap. Adding undiluted human urine to your compost heap will help heat it up quickly as it is an excellent activator and will add to the final nutrient value. As far as antibiotics, vitamin supplements and other medications go, yes they will end up in your urine, but in such minute quantities that I believe to be negligible – especially when it is diluted. So put this excellent source of free liquid fertilizer to good use in your garden, rather than add to the burden that we as humans cause to our environment. |
