| | i wonder if eating a good sized dose of amanita mushrooms and using that urine to feed your plants if the muscimol (which does not break down at all in urine, shamans drink the urine of reindeer that have consumed them in order to have visions into the spirit world) would affect the type of high at all. that would be choice. |

What does ammonia break down into? Ultimately, it can be broken down to nitrogen gas and the other composite compounds after oxidation. Either way, as it is oxidized (broken down) into its different parts, the good bits such as nitrogen are released.
Look at some fertilizers. What are they comprised of..? Urea..! Ammoniacal Nitrogen, what is that? Nitrogen derived from an ammonia source. Ammonium sulfate, ammonium phosphate.
You'll burn the plants if you pee on them directly and they're not large enough, but diluted it seems to make sense. Especially considering that root growth is enhanced in media with a pH of below 7 (neutral), no lower than 5.5 based on my research. So, for someone such as myself who can't afford filtration and has both high pH and highly alkaline (strong buffering capacity = resistance to pH shift) water source, it makes even more sense. To that end, I had my husband proffer some beer-laden urine to my efforts. If my son finds out what we did with his big pitcher, he'll.. he'll probably pitch a fit.
(P.S. Chemical burns can be via base; i.e. high pH value, not just acids.) | Cool explanation; nice rebuttal.

| | Just dont get any in your mouth or on your girlfriend. | | I Agree that urine, when diluted in H20, is very benificial to plant growth. Urine is known to be 100% sterile, and is the most potent natural source of nitrogen. Pure urine kills plants because its such a fast-acting, and massive hit of nitrogen that its basically an over-dose and kills ur plant real fast. Urine is also a great source of Potassuim and Phosphorous. Also its free. I'd say if your going all organic with your grows, or real low budget, deluiting some piss is a real slick idea. You can even control how deluited your urine is before you even piss it out by just drinking a few glasses of water or something. depending on how much you baby your girls you could find yourself completly changing your diet in hopes making some of the highest quality liquid gold you can muster.

| | so if you don't dilute your urine enough can it burn your plants? and if so, what will they look like when they're burned...how will you know that they are burned from urine and not sick from some other disease? |

| | Believe it or not, there is 'some' truth to the urine thing, but not the way it's been presented here.
Miracle Grow has a little secret that apparently not many people know about : they use urea in their fertilizers. (I don't know about all, but many.) Urea is a wasteproduct of protein metabolism that is removed from the body by the kidneys - and found in urine.
Maybe this is how the whole peeing thing got started - the fact that urea is added to some nutes, I don't know ... anyway, the bottom line remains the same: pee in your garden and your plants will be piss-poor.
P.S. I've always wondered where Miracle Grow gets the urea from ... I can see it now ... 50 employees lined up on the assembly line ... LOL |

| | I would bet that most fert manufacturers utilize the waste generated from dairy and chicken production. Blood meal is from pig (pork) processing (butchering). Looks beautiful and black in the bag, and then you remember what dried up blood looks like and.. and then you've gotta go with it. Just look at your labels, LOTS of ferts have urea as a source, ammoniacal (I kinda like that word) sources, etcetera.
However, I'm wondering why "hot piss" is one of the tags. That's gonna invite some porn bots (German is my bet).
Waaayyy back when, way back when I was setting up a fish import/export facility for a large retailer based in San Diego we had to get our saltwater system seeded and going FAST. How do aquatic systems get "seeded"? A bit of bacteria to nitrify and a source of nitrogen. To that end, every male warehouse worker took his turn at the filtration media tub. Still lost hundreds of fish, though. Fucking veeps. |

| | Lots of ferts use urea ... didn't know that. I guess I'm not paying enough attention. The first time I heard about it was many many years ago when someone/some company/whoever it was decided to tell the world about Miracle Grow's secret ingredient: urea. It was so long ago I don't remember all the details but it seemed to be a semi-big deal at the time. 'How does Miracle Grow do it? It's urea! Woo Hoo!' Since that time I've heard people talk about using urine as an additive countless times; I always wondered if the urea thing is how it got started. Then again, people are always dreaming up new things to try. It would seem obvious that urea is a worthwhile component of a nutrient mix, urine on the other hand, ain't gonna be wetting the earth in my garden. The attraction must be that it's cheap; however, free can turn out to be very expensive if the plants collapse and take their last breath in a puddle of urine. I'll stick to the tried and true - 'cause I know it works. Urine? Even if it worked I think I'd feel like I was disrespecting my plants. LOL
