    Default Does my organic mix look okay?

    i have been looking up organic mixes lately and have been really interested in it mostly because, i have heard that growing organicly in soil may take longer than any form of hydro but, growing in soil has a much greater potency! i am still learning and would like any and all comments that any one has to offer.
    So far in my organic mix i have:
    Peat moss
    Vermiculite
    Bone meal
    Green sand
    Perlite
    Blood meal
    Bat guano
    Kelp meal
    Alfalfa meal

    To any and all experienced organic growers, does this look alright? if not what am i missing or what should i get rid of?

    I would ditch the blood and bone also the vermiculite and go with fishbone meal and fishmeal also I would add some azomite,dolomite lime and rock phosphate at about a cup per cubic foot of soil.Just my 2 cents

    If your growing outside be cafeful with the fish products. Critters love to dig up your plants if they smell that fish. Definetly add some lime.

    farmerjoe has it right - you need some quality humus material ASAP. Homemade EWC or local EWC is the best bet, second best is local compost, etc. only resort to bagged compost/EWC if you are in dire straights.

    also, id scrap the perlite and replace it with pumice or rice hulls - pumice is $9 for 50lbs at my local feed store...rice hulls are $12 for 6cuft...beats the hell out of perlite for a multitude of reasons.
