it won't taste like the soil because the plant can only absorb atoms and small molecules. Then reassembles them into sugar, carbohydrates, esters (flavor oils), and your general plant matter (with a goodly amount of THC, one whould hope).

Roses need to aquire certain molecules from the soil at certain times to produce an extraordanary rose (which is really quite a feat). With a biologicaly active soil these molecules are avalable when the plant needs them.
