The water supply to the Rio Grande river where I live has been shut off and it's currently dry. Do you think soil from the river bed would be exceptionally good to use?

I wouldn't mess with it. I think there's a lot of agricultural run off, like chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

i'd have to agree with catmando. I say put a couple in it and watch the magic.... or demise.... it could go either way obiviously but i sure would jump at the chance to try it. could be some of the most fertile soil you've ever grown in. i wouldnt worry too much about chemicals and what not..

what yall think about using dirt from the bottom of a somewhat swampy pond I herd its sopouse to be real rich and if I where you I would try it on one plant first unless its too sandy of course but you'd only fuck up one plant the rest will be fine
