Exclamation How Long Does Organic Tea Last?

How long does it last after it's brewed?

How would you go about storing it and when should you throw it away?

Also, How often must you water your plants with the tea?

Not long. It should be used immediately after aeration stops. You shouldn't aerate it for more than 48 hours or so because the air-stones will clog up with bio-slime and it will still go anaerobic eventually. Use it within a few hours at least.

I've heard it can be refrigerated to prolong the life of it but it's really best to use it as soon as possible and just make up another batch the day or night before you plan to\have time to use it. You can apply it as frequently as you'd like (within reason), every week, every other week, once a month, whatever.

couple days. add an oz molasses to 5gals tea daily. i can get them to go a week sometimes.

you can freeze it to store it thats the only way. just make it on the spot and get all dry ingredients or at least try to.

you can water with tea only if its a well made low strength tea, i do this often but with stronger teas you will only need to feed once a week, the organic material will takes a little time to breakdown.

when it smell like a porta jon throw it away, it will literly turn "sour" all this means is when you take a sniff if it makes your face cringe, toss that shit.

    LOL thanks man :P

How come people make 5 gallons of it then? I don't think 5-10 plants can sustain 5 gallons of tea.

I dig a 2-teir basin to hold in large amounts of water. For a tea, I get 1lb bag of Kellogg Organic All-Purpose Fertilizer from Home Depot and I mix 1 cup with five gallons of tap water in a bucket. I let the mix sit for 10-15 and stir it once in a while. Then I pour the whole mix into the basin. After that I wash the bucket and my hands then call it a day. I repeat this every couple of months and adjust depending on how heavy the rains are.

Most people just use a 5 gallon bucket to brew in. Most also dilute the AACT before applying it so you reall only need to brew a gallon or 2 for a smaller garden. If you have excess hook up your house plants, veggie garden etc. you can apply as foliar as well, unless you are one of those cats who ONLY grows cannabis. Then just brew less, your inputs will last forever.

I've always wondered about dilution rates....i don't really dilute mine-more of just a top off. I brew around 8 gal for 17 ladies in 3-6 gal pots. It would be nice to save on supplies by feeding with a diluted brew... What is everyone diluting theirs to?? sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else

I brew 5 gallons and use it over 3 days. I add a little food (molasses, syrup, ... Meal) every day extra that I keep it going. I hate airstones for that reason, I use a pvc pipe that I've drilled a bunch of little holes in and hooked up 2 aquarium air pumps too. I also have a water pump recirculating the water to the top and splashing down on the side to make the water swirl around and really mix it all up. (its breaking so i have to cycle it 15 mins on 15 off because it slows down to just a trickle if i dont). I'm going to invest in a piston air pump soon and a heater because some of my teas stink up the garage and i want to put it outside, not because they go bad, the tea isn't exactly a glade plug in if you know what I mean.

i spread 5gals of tea over 50 plants in 1 gal pots, 5 gal is plenty if it is brewed strong enough. but you can always make more, in a bugger bucket just add molasses, or dilute it i dont though, i think that kind defeats the purpose.

brewing tea is very simple, bucket, mesh bag and twitie tie, and a container for water. you can stir for aeration if you dont got an air stone, its all the same really, the airstone just really get things jump started.

Common dilution rates are 1:2, 1:5, even 1:20 (pure water : AACT)

I have just started to dilute mine about 1:4.

The main thing I have noticed is that my undiluted teas take much longer to percolate into the mix and at the end there is clearly an additional "tea layer" on the first few inches of my soil strata. Similar to what happens with top dressing ewc and guano. It could affect oxygen availability to the root zone? Not really a concern for me as I utilize fabric containers.

The teas I use are not for nutrient purposes just to boom the bennies. I basically apply them instead of plain water alternating tea, nute, tea, nute. I think the theory of diluting is that these 'crobes will easily multiply IN our containers (and our leaf surfaces when applied foliar) so it just saves on inputs and time. If you are brewing tea AS nutrient then diluting probably isn't what your going for.
