Tea Mixes

I see a lot of people do not understand teas

Worm Tea will out perform chemical fertilizer. Increasing both plant size and yield. This is due to interaction of Worm Tea microbes with the soil microbes and protozoa, soil particles and the roots of the plant itself.

The organisms in Worm Tea also produce hormones, vitamins, nutrients, enzymes, amino acids and minerals needed by seedling cuttings and young plants.

Some recipes that I picked up in my reading from various sites including this one.

Seedlings less than 1 month old nutrient tea mix-
5 TBS. Black Strap Molasses
1-cup earthworm castings/5 gallons of water every 3rd watering

Vegetative mix-
1/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano (PSG)
1/3 cup High N Bat Guano (Mexican)
1/3 cup Earth Worm Castings (EWC)
1/3 cup Oatmeal
1/3 cup Alfalfa
1/3 cup Compost
5 TBS. Maxi-crop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract

5 TBS. Liquid Karma (optional)
5 TBS. Black Strap Molasses
@ 1-cup mix/5 gallons of water every 3rd watering.

Flowering nutrient tea mix:
2/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano
2/3 cup Earth Worm Castings
2/3 cup High P Guano (Indonesian or Jamaican)
1/3 cup Oatmeal
1/3 cup Compost
1/3 cup Alfalfa

5 TBS. Maxi-crop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract

5 TBS. Black Strap Molasses

Worm tea is also good for protecting the plants from aphids and other leaf suckers. Pour the tea directly on the leaves and a film will build up that bugs do not like. Obviously you would only want to do this during veg or you will ruin your buds.

1/3 cup of Compost is another good ingrediant to add

Nice.
In the veg mix, you should add a handful or so of General Organic's Ancient Forest for humic and fulvic acid and the tens of thousands of beneficial bacteria and fungi.
And alfalfa pellets in the tea for last few weeks of of flower because of the triacontanol in it that is a natural plant growth hormone, and it increase bud density.

I guess I did not mention the Alfalfa this is copy and paste from some notes. I actually use it in all my teas, however, I have never used "GO" because I also add compost. The worm tea and the kelp should cover all the other ingredients. I have bought ferts only once and that is for my hydro grow although that will not happen again as I read the ingredients on commercial ferts I realize I should just make teas and filter them.

Do you mean you are using these teas in a hydro setup?

If you do research on worm teas you will see it will build a bio film on the leaves. Lots of regular horticulturists use it here is a porduct sold as an example http://www.orchidsamore.com/disease%20and%20pest%20control/Worm%20Tea%20Instructions.htm again I reiterate that you would not use it during flower. Think of neem that is normally sprayed on the plants during veg but not during flower same difference.

no I am not using the teas yet I bought $400 worth of Advanced Nutrients but now that I read the ingrediants I should have just made teas. For instance Big Bud is nothing more than REALLY EXPENSIVE molasses and the Vodoo Juice with all its microbes just like I mentioned above with OG all can be derived from 5 things in a tea 1) compost 2) worm castings 3) Kelp 4) Alfalfa 5) Oatmeal.

I wanted to experiment with hydro and now that I have read the nutes on the bottles I can make teas that do the same just need to filter it by making it inside stockings.

Until you get a feel for your mix and what your plants can handle dilute it when plants are small. Also just like any fert you plants do not all take the same amount. For instance I have a Cheese that you can through anything at and just loves it but then I have had others that get a burn. So less is better than a burn.

Right, I know you haven't yet in hydro but is that the plan? Will you use the same recipes? Wouldn't the concentration need to be different since the media is different? Im new so Im just asking. Maybe it depends on the type of hydro setup and type of media? I dont know...maybe a dumb question but Im still going to ask

Thank you for this, my starter soil is too cold(should have added more castings to begin with):

  • Seedlings less than 1 month old nutrient tea mix-
    5 TBS. Black Strap Molasses
1-cup earthworm castings/5 gallons of water every 3rd watering

Regular compost is fine, but Ancient Forest is really great. It has 35,000 species of bacteria and 5,000 species of fungi, not to mention the humic an fulvic acid that MJ loves so much. And it's only $10 a bag. Check out the ad:
Ancient Forest is a natural product consisting of 100% pure forest humus. It is derived from thousands of years of naturally decomposed forest litter that contains a wide spectrum of organic compounds. An incredibly high diversity of microorganisms, with more than 35,000 species of bacteria and over 5,000 species of fungi, make Ancient Forest an ideal amendment for gardening and potting soils. Ancient Forest also aids in the retention of water and nutrients; creating stable, long lasting soil for your garden. The immense biological activity also makes Ancient Forest the ideal inoculum for actively aerated compost
And a lot of people use compost and manure teas to spray their plants.

Sunbiz this is a tea mix and applied after your soil is made. As far as adding worm castings they are not hot and depending on who you talk to some people use 50-60% wc in their mix.

The guanos are the hot ones and so is the peruvian sea bird guano.
