Hi, I am getting back to soil and I have decided to go completely organic. That being said I am going to dish out the cash for some good worm castings for my soil. I know fertilizer and seedlings don't usually mix but will planting the seed sprouts in a soil with worm castings cause any issues? Thanks!

depends.... I wouldn't waste the castings if your going to keep them in 16oz cups for the first week or two, but when you transplant put a thin layer at the bottom of the container...and about 15 or 20% in your soil, high phos bat gauno for flower and that makes for some beauts!!!

Um live in an apartment... so not a chance of that happening lol. I found them for $14 for 30lb at my local store. So it's worth the cash.

He is right, worm bins if properly set up make zero smell...........well it smells like fresh rained on soil.
The only problem with doing your own worm bins is that they are a tad labor excessive. You have to constantly add food, moisture and control pests if they arrive. It also takes a while for a colony to become established and start producing enough casting for anything really. Youll have a huge rack of worms to keep up with even the a few plants every 2 months. |
