No it does not need more fish i have been running more with the same out side I just moved inside because of my dog would not leave my pumps alone. As mentioned I grew bell peppers and squash from these same fish. I could add more fish but it is not necessary I assure you.

With talapia you can have 1 fish per gallon they can live (while I doubt happy) with that ratio. Gold fish need a lot more space or they will get stressed and or sick.

Look at the plants they are very happy the veggies are 3 weeks old with some new lettuce and parsley at 1 week old.

Added the t-5 lamp and moved the mj sprout to a different position under the lights.

So I had another seed pop but it does not look like it is very strong just seems not to be growing very well.

The other seed continues to grow and is a nice deep green color.

    Default ganja teawater

o.k....I'll pop out for a second to tell you this: you're on the cutting edge with the fishtank...now- get another fishtank, and fill it with dirty fishwater(don't use ANY fungicides!)...next, add trim. I don't make hash, so my trim is top notch...bubble the trim in a well heated and lit area. I feed the goldfish spirulina...algae is a big part of this operation. the bacteria in the fish poop breaks down the ganja trim a bit. it's not a good idea to use the tea past the second week of flowering. your plants( and the micosphere) will love you!. my medium is hi- compost with lava, and charcoal in biodynamic soil. this is the future!

you could grow talapia in a 90gal drum feed your plants, and grow fish big enough to eat. some people use horse troughs and a pump for current and grow all sorts of things. just need to build a large biofilter and water the plants for a full food production. its awesome, i dream of building an earthship and living that way, auquaponics in a greenhouse build in the middle of my house. check these out, this site offers pretty decent designs to fuel the mind of a savy diy minded individual.

s.c.mtn.hillbilly Yeah I am hip to spirulina or duck weed for food. Not sure what your saying about making hash.

Milignant - I had a larger system outside similiar to this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwMEulvJ2Ps
with just a NFT instead of the complex flood and drains. I tried bell siphon set up like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiVbZ...eature=related however since the pump is running all the time it was easier to set up NFT and works just fine.

I am aware of talapia as a food source I started with these fish as feeder fish and lost a few while building the microbs in the system. I should have peed in it to start things off. As a side note peeponics works also after all it is just another nitrite. Talapia are expensive to buy and while I was getting the system established I did not want to kill them. Besides I like to watch my gold fish it adds to my grow room escape.

As far as cutting edge Aquaponics Will Allen is the man!!
1 MILLION pounds of Food on 3 acres. 10,000 fish 500 yards compost
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV9CCxdkOng

The only concern with MJ is the flowering phase and P since the fish poo are nitrites converted to available nitrates.
But that is the fun and exciting part about it something new to learn.

PS outside my dog will not leave my pumps alone. I just got a couple rabbits and am setting up my rabbit area I may try it outside again but for now I have enough projects on my list.

goldfish shit alot, he might be ok with less lol.

they also grow huge, that many in that small a tank, he´s gonna run into trouble later. (goldfish really require ponds (or huge tanks and not alot of them))

i use the waste from my 180l guppy tank for my plants. keeps them pretty happy. one doesnt need alot, i probably throw away most of the water.

oh btw, and that guppy tank is fully stocked with many different kinds of plants, still very good for plants (so i wouldnt worry much about not having enough nutrients with a plantless tank)

though ive begun to use my crayfish tank (50l plastic tub with crayfish that were too omnivorous for anything else (plus breed through cloning, all females, fast and large enough to make one wonder how they taste lol)
