    Default Meat in the mix

Hello fellow RIU members. I'm going to see how much MJ likes a little flesh added to the compost. I know some of you will probably ask how I avoid maggots, well I compost in huge piles with a very large tractor. The pressure and heat is enough to kill off the unwanted organisms leaving only the good micro-organisms we want for plants. Manure also breaks down flesh a lot faster than plant material. An entire deer (150lbs) can dissolve in 2-3 weeks with enough moisture.

My compost mix is made from barn scrapings (manure, hay, dirt) mixed with animals that I have to dispose of for my rendering business (deer, cows, etc). The manure is from an area where only pregnant cows are keep so it's from healthy, un-medicated animals.

I composted the mix I will be using last year and it has had plenty of time to break down any unwanted bits of bone and hair. I'm only going to be adding perlite to help with drainage.

I have a small bagseed flowering in it right now that I started just over a month ago. She was vegged and LST'd under a single 42w cfl, that's why she's so small. The other little one in the small pot is more bagseed that I'm growing out as a test plant to find out how much fertilizer a plant can handle. I have added nothing but water and since my water is pumped straight from the ground with no filtration and I haven't even bothered to PH it yet.

I started germinated my White Castle and White Widow from Nirvana yesterday. I'll be growing 2 of each for a total of 4. My light is a 400w switchable (mh&hps) SS2 air-cooled hood with a 190cfm inline fan and carbon filter which is currently off in a 3x3x6.5' tent.

I do plan on using superthrive to help with transplanting and I have decided to go with Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz as my only fertilizer to give it a boost during flowering. I have had good luck with my compost outdoors although I have yet to complete a successful harvest because of unpredictable weather.

    that's disgusting, but nonetheless.

composting meat is something totally different than regular compost. there are many dangerous bacteria that can be present, as i'm sure you're aware of.

meat will produce anaerobic bacteria, which will impede on the typical, aerobic conditions you are trying to achieve.

    also, keep scavengers in mind.

edit: i hope i didn't come off as a dick, composting meat is achievable, yet at that scale i would imagine it to be very difficult. try looking into bokashi composting.

It's cool. A lot of people don't really understand how nature really works.

I can't complain about the results I've had yet nor the money I make off selling good fertilzer.

Yes it's disgusting but this is nature at work.

there you go, you know what's up. i personally wouldn't use it because of my vegetarian tendencies, but i can't hate on high quality fertilizer.

it'd be interesting to see the results when used with weed

Here's a closer picture of the bagseed. Leaves are nice and green, been showing pistals for a few days. It's growing very quickly under the 400w by itself.
