Soil Mix Reduction.. thoughts and concerns

Ok, so I started with a soil recipe that yielded a little over 30 gallons of soil mix, however I only need roughly 3 gallons for this single play grow I'm soon to embark on. So I did the conversions and just wanted to clarify with the general learned public that it is indeed a suitable mix:

Original Recipe:

3.8cf Peat Moss based mix (i.e. Pro Mix or Fox Farm)
2cf MG Organic Soil
1cf Chunky Perlite
1.5c Blood Meal
1.5c Bone Meal
3/4c Dolomite Lime

Conversions:

1cf = 6.4285 Gallons Dry
1 Gallon Dry = @19 Cups Dry
1cf = @ 122 Cups Dry

1 Cup = 16 TBLS
1 TBLS = 3 Tsp

Reduced Mix:

32c Peat Moss based mix
17c MG Organic Soil
9c Chunky Perlite
1.75 Tbsp Blood Meal
1.75 Tbsp Bone Mean
2.5 Tsp Dolomite Lime

the reduced mix will make about 58 cups of mix.. or just over 3 gallons..

I plan to use distilled water from start to finish with an added Tbsp of Molasses every other watering.

thoughts, suggestions, concerns welcome

thanks,
Joan Figgens

add some worm castings..i got some in my fox farms but i also buy a bag of it and put a little bit in the middle of the medium and layer the top with it just a half inch or so on the top..it's a great food source for plants and it also creates c02 when the lights go out so when the lights come on ur plants wake up and have fresh c02 to take in

i agree with 420baby, IF u use promix bx/hp.
if u are going to use FF then it has plenty of castings in it. (specially happy frog)
after 4 or 5 weeks of using the mix , i would mix a quano tea and use it once or twice a week for extra NPK. (but you should be fine without any extra food)
good mix!

BX/HP meaning the manufacturer of the Pro-Mix??

I've been trying to find a local nursery that carries FF Mix... is happy frog a type of mix from FF?

quano tea like bat droppings? or.... lol.. could you link me to an example or drop me a recipe for that tea.. i would love to try it

Thanks 420 and wyteboi both, for your inputs, def very helpful

HELP PLEASE***

ok so I just finished my grow cab.. which ill be starting a journal for in a separate thread... but so i began the germination process this morning... so i have roughly 24hrs to get the peat-moss potting soil to start off the seedlings....

so i found a local nursery that carries Fox Farm products and had 3 different choices of potting soil... and I'm not sure which will be best for this mix... could someone please shoot me straight real quick on which one to pick up!?!

the 3 soils the carried were:

FF Original Planting Mix (had a fox on it)

FF Ocean Forrest (I've heard people complain its too hot for seedlings??)

FF Happy Frog Potting Soil

Thanks,

Joan
