Reading EC/TDS/PPM and Organics???

Today I bought a sweet Hannah Combo Ph an EC, looking up things on ppm I read a post like 06' saying how organic nutrients are not electrically charged the same way synthetic nutrients are. soo i also ordered the humboldt nutrients organic line today.

I'm just wondering do i even need this $170 hannah combo? I mainly got it for the EC/ppm but if I'm growing all organic the readings would be pretty useless, right?:wall::bigjoint:

im doing all organic and i use my hannah combo meter to check ppm,ph, and temp works great and if u ever go hydro which i think would be better, just the fact it took me 6hrs to fill 220 planters with a pallet of dirt, dont ever wanna do that again..... but yeah ur meter will cum in handy..

ppm's are ppm's and same with ph. Whether is organic or synthetic especially in liquid form. All the organic label on hombolt nute products means they were derived from organic components so its not the exact same as growing "organic" with like chicken shit and bat guano mixed in your soil. So your ppm meter will help you meter how much nutes your plants get and regulate your ph for sure

This was what i found...

A note to Organic Growers:

An EC meter has fewer applications for a soil grower because many organic nutrients are not electrically charged or are inert. Things like Superthrive or Fish Emulsion, blood meal, rock phosphate or green sand cannot be measured with a meter reliably when they are applied or in runoff. Meters can only measure electrically charged salts in solution.

i see so its a different type (or form..?)of organic shit like the bat guano it wont read...ok.

yeah it's kinda like an organic form of chemical nutes. like refined sugar is a form of sugar cane but its not exactly "organic" but its natural

Organic foods have to be broken down into use able salts before the plant can even use them. That's why they don't read, there's no salt to read. The Humboldt Organic line is 100% organic, nothing synthetic is added. Bloom is made from rock phosphate and kelp, Deuce Deuce is made from Ascophyllum Nodsum Seaweed [ the best kind ] , and sulfate of potash [ wood ash ]. Verde is made from Ascophyllum Nodsum Seaweed, Tech Grade Phosphate [ finely ground ]...etc...it's all organic with the Humboldt line. Shit stinks, the pH is usually always on target with it also.

Peace

"Ultra-concentrated organic formulas designed to give your plants the balanced nutrition needed during the vegetation and flowering period. Made using the finest and freshest organic ingredients, none of our products are imported from overseas making our prices affordable to the consumer."

That is taken right off of their website and the first phrase of the statement "ultra-concentrated" means that it has been changed from its original form and condensed. Although you are right about their ingredients you are wrong in the fact that just like every other company that makes a liquid nute and claim they are 100% organic you can still use a ppm meter with organic liquid nutes. because their formula isn't just those ingredients in a bottle they are derived from those sources to make a concentrated formula that includes all the benifits of those sources.

"DeuceDeuce is derived from sulfate of Potash, Potassium, and Ascophyllum Nodosum."

means chemically changed those ingredients to fit their formula, not that they have combined those products in a bottle and sell it

+Rep to you my man. I have been trying to figure out (since the other day) if I spent $120 on a Hannah EC/PPM/CF pen for no reason.

Thank you for the good news. :leaf:
