Default using pump to pump air directly into my compost and root structure
i put a 1/8 inch line in one of the drainge holes on a 5 gallon pot. and started pumping air into the soil. when i watered i was suprized to see how evenly the bubbles were disspersed at the top of the pot.

In hydro setups one of the advatages is getting air directly to the roots after watering. i was thinking it might hold true for soil as well. we shall see i guess.

Has anyone tried this? om only doing one plant incase it doesnt work, and the pump is on a timer set for 2 hours a day. hopfully it doesnt kill the critters in the soil.

I have thought about this and wondered the same. I would think it would help, and even more so if you had access to grandpas O2 tank.

depending on what sort of critters you have in the soil... you're adding oxygen to a pretty heavily bacteria and other microherder laden region. it would start some sort of aerobic actions that may not otherwise occur. could lead to some friendly microbes or some angry, mean ones. i know compost tea is essentially compost "bubbled" in water... that's my two cents and not even sure it's fully valid. good bowl earlier.

wow, sounds cool to me. Air is the key. Aerobic bacteria will kill all the bad guys every time. Your roots need that air. If I knew it would disperse like that I would have done that myself along time ago. That actually is pretty cool, but I am no scientist just an amateur hobbyist.

Very interesting. I've heard of using oxygen in dwc but never this. Keep us posted, I'd like to see how it works out.

Default Soma O2 for soil
Soma does this with his set up which is described in his book on organic growing. Only difference is his is 100% passive but utilizes an amazing amount of O2 space under the bed. Its pretty righteous.
