Can I top dress with bone meal during flowering? I have a bag of Espoma bone meal, and it doesn't give any directions for doing so- if I can, how often and how much? I'm talking about 6' plants outside, some in the ground and some in 7 gallon pots... thanks!

Im top dressing now with bat and bird shit. 2-4 tbl spoons mixed into 2 qrt of compost. top dressing the hole thing per plant but i put it threw a coffe bean grinder first to get it realy fine like a powder do the same.2-3 table spoons each plant mixed with dirt so it doesnt just dry out and cake up.and water after realy good to flush some down to roots.Its ben working for me but im no pro ! ps boone meal can bring animals! ahhh bird shit bat shit

lol okay, thanks for the advice- I've heard about the animals problem elsewhere. Not sure where I can find bird/bat shit in my neck of the woods, have to search it out I guess...

you might consider bone meal tea, basically it's a molasses tea with bone meal mixed in, fermented for several days
not sure if this would reduce animal troubles though

bone meal is difficult to work with outdoors because of animals. Get some high P bird guano and make into a top dressing. Put some compost or mulch over it and water in.

Im using bone n blood meal but im indoors. I heard critters like bone mean alot.. Maybe not a good idea.. Its up to you....gl
