So i have been turned on to coco for my winter grow, looking around it seems like its the best thing out there, those who grow with it love it, those who don't.. well they want to.

now i have done my keyboard mashing on the internet and know all about the different grades, ranging from the strains used in hanging baskets.. to the thicker chunks, and everything inbetween. I would love to save a buck on buying the coco, and use the money to get more lights instead, as buying the stuff off ebay (no one around me has it in stores) would be pretty expensive.

From my understanding of coco, it is not acutally used by the plant for nutes, rather for support for the roots, and a medium that can easly be flushed with good water retention/ability to give the roots air. So here is my question after all this rambiling, and yes this is a question not a better method (to the best of my knowlage). Would I be able to use coco hull mulch as a medium? (of course amended with other soiless mediums) They have this stuff all over the place, and the bags of it are realitivly inexpensive. I understand i would have to clean the stuff, as its not as steril as the coco you guys get. but im willing to do all the amending and cleaning. here is a picture so you guys get an idea of what im talking about.



If you answered yes to my question, what would you suggest amending it with, i have a few ideas... but i would love to hear what you guys think..

I honestly dont know... Does the mulch have any additives?? Insecticides?? Anything like that? If not.. I'd try it out. Get a couple bagseeds, a couple different mixes and try them out. Thats if you have the space, time and nothing better to do. Just my 2¢.

ahh insecticides the bag didn't mention that it had it, i would think that would be something they would boast about.. otherwise why add it? i could test it out on bagseed but i would feel bad bringing a plant into the world only to die, because if it dose work, im going to use the space to grow seeds on the way from attitude some lowrider ak47 business. and its already to late to put them out around me, they wouldn't end up doing anything before the frost.

i guess its a death for science though.

hmm im not sure either ive been researchin using coco for my indoor grow coming up i heard its re usable but expensive to start but obviously over time ud save money. id rec goin with steril soil but if ure gonna clean it u mite b ok but its still a lil sketchy to me but i haevnt done it or researched so i wouldnt know. i wish u luck tho!

well for some reason it seems i have stumped the community on this one, im sure even if i did use it and it worked it wouldn't be like a break through or change how any of you grow because obviously you are going to continue to use what ever method you have found to work. thanks for stopping by, but at the same time sorry for racking your brains.

i guess ill just order coco like everyone else.
