you can get worms at a bait shop, and as for the soil they live in pretty easy to make really. Take your kitchen scraps, crushed eggshells, a few coffee grounds and start a little compost heap. Throw in some soil, even if it is sand it will mix in with the scraps, and if you can get some grass clippings and hoepfully some cow manure or horse manure in there to really heat things up. Let this cook so to speak for a week or two. This soil mix will make great worm bed and it will grow great little babies also. I have 7 plants in containers now with worms living in all of them and my plants are very healthy. You can start a nice little program of composting and turning all your organic waste into rich fertile soil for your worms and plants.....welcome to the world of organics.

NoRmAllHed....... The answers to your questions can all be found in these two links. One is an honest retailer of worms / worm castings. . The other is a real good info site on worms / worm bins, it's geared for kids, but the info is solid and easy to follow....even when blazed.... It's where I got my start with worms..... . . http://www.vermiculture.com/ . http://urbanext.illinois.edu/worms/ . . Hope this helps..... Keep it Real.....Organic...... . . Kinda on the same topic...We went fishing the other day and "lost" a container of worms. Unfortunately, I found it today and it reeks like a demon's asshole. I emptied the whole thing into a planter and mixed it with some good soil between gagging attacks..... Think it'll be good/bad/awesome when I re pot? Should I not use it?
*to be clear, the worms are very, very, very..................dead. If you've never smelled a dead container of worms- it's one of those things you wish you could un-smell forever. Last edited by Daemonus; 07-19-2009 at 06:55 PM.. |
