Quick question regarding pre-harvest flushing....
If I am using organic nutes (Botanicare) should I still stop using them as I approach harvest, or is it ok to continue to feed with organics right up to harvest? In the past I have stopped my nutes and continued with the molasses right up to harvest. The reason is for a Super Skunk plant my lower braches are ready to get pulled, but my tops still need at least a few weeks more.....Do I cut the nutes now and finish up the tops without feeding? Any suggestions appreciated. Thx.... |

I usually do a pre-harvest flush 2 weeks before harvest with just straight water, twice the volume of the container. The rest of the waterings I do with molasses to give the plant sugars and carbs to keep plumping resin. 4 days before harvest I give another flush with twice the volume and that is their final watering. Don't water 3-4 days before harvest.

If it is organic grow start to finish you don't need to flush, the soil is natural, no chems to flush. All flushing is going to do is flush the goodies out of the soil. You just spent all this time getting the soil ready, the plant has stored its protiens, sugars already in a simple clean form, you can use this soil again just mix with new parts and you already have your goodies active in the soil. Just my opinion and I am sure that many will disagree with this, but this is all part of a true organic lifestyle with your plants and the soil.

I agree with Canefan...... no need to directly flush the soil. Just use plain water the last week or two, to keep your plant hydrated and let the plant use up what's in the soil / stored in the plant.
. A sure sign this is happening, your older fan leaves will yellow and drop or pull off easily. Then you know, some smooth tasting smoke lies ahead. . Keep it Real...Organic... & don't fear the yellowing fan leaves....... . . |

I would just like to point out that organic or not the whole idea behind "FLUSHING" is to starve the plant forcing it to use all the food it has stored up leaving behind complex carbohydrates "sugars". This has multiple effects on the plant. 1. U get to taste the buds not the dirt. 2. Starving the plant makes it pump into overdrive the last couple weeks as a survival tactic. layering on the calyxes and frost.
1 simple method that i use is to "flush" the pots with enough water that the run off will be clear 2 weeks b4 approx harvest. Then i feed only water with a little molasses or natural pure cane sugar crystals(other complex sugars work just as good). My last watering i "flush" 1 more time till i get clear run off then harvest when its about redy for water again. Also using a flushing agent like clearex in the first flush works beutifully This method can not be beat.

I use clearex on my first gallon flush as well. Then the rest is just straight water, then the last gallon I put some blackstrap molasses in to give it complex sugars. The last flushes I give 3 days before harvest with just straight water.
