Well my problem if it is a problem is that every potting soil organic or not with or without ferts, even those organic that I have mix. Well the pH has always been above 7.5. Now the problem with my answers is I was using one of those peice of probe meters from homedepot. I have just recently purchas a pH meter and it also told me my last two soils had a pH between 7.8 and 8.0, but I was going by the run off.

I don't know what to tell myself.

those real cheap ph meters have a reaaal bad reputation for accuracy
i'm surprised you're seeing such a high ph, the soils i've used are well on the acidic side(mg moisture control and mg organic garden)

Home Depot, Lowe's, places like that, have Kellogg's Patio Mix. It has worm castings, bat guano, sea kelp, etc. We use it to start our plants.
A few years ago, we were given two baby plants late in the season. We put a bag of Kellog Mix on our deck, poked a few holes in one side and split it down the middle on the other. We put the two plants in the bag and let them grow. Never added anything except water. They only got about 18" tall but they were bushy and we got almost a QP from the two.
These did have a short grow season so I don't know if you would eventually have to add nutes.
Here is their website. Maybe you can find a dealer in your area. http://www.kellogggarden.com/

I've been using 1 dollar bags of "Hyponex" soil found at my kmart, agway, etc.. Works great.
