so i got 3 chickens, and i have been thinking about using their manure to make a tea or in some way use them to fertilize my plants and my actual vegetable garden. does anyone have any tips on a constructive way to harvest their poop to use it as a fertilizer.
thanks in advance |

another question...
so if i make a tea using just water, chicken manure and the proper amount of molasses per gallon, would this be benificial for my plants. i am not sure of the npk of the manure. the molasses info is available,. just not the manure. so would this mixture burn my plants because of too much potency, or would it work? being self sustainable using my own nutes is something that intersest me, but my knowledge is limited in this area. i wish that i had the luxory of having many extra plant to expierement on, but not so, so i am scared of messing up my plants. thanks in advance |

I know you may want to use chicken manure because its free, but bat guano or seabird bat guano would probably be a more effective way of making a tea ( they are a bit higher in either phosphorus, or nitrogen) just depends on if your making a veg tea or a flowering tea. Obviously for veg teas you would want to use the seabird guano, worm casting, a form of seaweed extract, and maybe some molasses. For flowering use the high phosphorus guano, worm castings, no seaweed extract, and definetly molasses. Some people will add a few other things, but I would say these are the most common. My plants LOVE this stuff. Just make sure you get a proper mixing ratio and still check the PH. Ive burned a few leaves when I first started using these teas, but that was from too much nitrogen (seabird guano) and or too strong of a mix. Good luck and happy growing. Oh ya my orginal point was these bags of guano are like $13 and should last quite awhile. Always aerate the water for a day or two. Then let settle or strain it and feed!
