Hey all,

This will be my first grow, and I am looking to go organic (coincidently, first post...). Been fiending the info on this site for months now, kudos to all those rollitup vets helpin out. Recently came across a gold mine of organic additives, so i threw a list of them together:

blood meal
bone meal
organic potting soil (Greenhouse Gold brand)
dolomite lime
perlite
homemade compost
mulch

I plan on picking up some bat (or peruvian seabird) guano as well.

My questions to all experienced organic cultivators:

- Would organic nutes (fox farm, biobuzz..) added at the right time supplement this mix, or would it be overkill?
- If I germ them all indoors, then immediately transplant for veg/flower outdoors, will the sun/soil mix be too harsh for the small seedlings ( even though in the morning shade of conifers...)?

Gonna be putting them in the ground (in 5 gal. buckets w' drainage) at latest June 7th. Last (usual) frost here is May 26-27th.

I realize I am a little late, hence the vegging time cut short - but have some blueberry clones on the way to ensure some sort of harvest. I'll be startin' up a journal so keep posted. Strains from seed are Doc Greenthumbs Iranian Short Season (not in yet...), and some bagseed.

Well, that really depends on how much of each you plan on using in your mix. Theres a thread about "super soil" by a member Subcool in his organics subforum. I advise that you look at that, I think it would probably be your best bet and wouldn't require any extra nutes from fox farm or anything, just some top dressing from time to time of the super soil later in the season if your plants seem to be having some nute problems. I plan on using a slight variatioin of his Super Soil mix for my next grow. I'm not familiar with the brand of potting soil you plan on using and obviously as previously stated the ratios at which you plan on using all of the ingredients so I'm hesitant to give you any real advice but again I think the super soil is pretty much what you're looking for. Thanks bro, appreciate the advice. I did check out subcools super soil mix, and I guess I'll also be using a slight variation of it. Just hoping my organic potting soil will do, as he uses Roots soil. I think the organic potting soil i will be using is legit, as my great aunt uses it to maintain a beautiful rock facade garden.

I will have to get ahold of the Azomite trace minerals and epson salts (drug store..?) - any one with suggestions on where to find these?

I've checked my local shops and can't find azomite anywhere so I'll be ordering that online. I'll probably check ebay first and then cross reference that with what I can find on google shopping. As far as epson salt, readily available at walmart type stores anywhere like that really.

True, that's what I was thinking - but with some quick searching I bet you I could come by some Azomite trace minerals in store somewhere. If you can find a wheatgrass kit, chances are you'll find some - apparently it is an excellent organic additive for wheatgrass. You going outdoors/what strain(s) will you be using SGT?

Indoors. As far as strains I'm a little stuck at the moment. Thinking either Belladonna or one of Subcools, possible Pandoras Box. Not entirely sure. But during that grow I'm going to take some clones of the best female probably keep her around for awhile as a mother and test out a few different variations of his mix and his for control of course. See what works best, if theres any noticeable difference at all. But as well stacked as it is I think it will be hard to alter and have any substantial differences in growth as to call one better than the other.

Make sure you use unchlorinated water.............

I buy distilled, have to get a reverse osmosis machine one of these days.

I was thinking of doing that, experimenting with different outdoor mixes. One being subcools organic, maybe another straight CHEM and the whole miracle gro family, and then another with regular potting soil, basic perlite and the fox farm nutes...yet it is my first grow and although I have huge dreams I know best to keep it secure first time round. Ill just stick to the super mix. Post a link to your grow if ya can, once it is started , would love to follow it. Interested in seeing your variations and their results...hopefully mine will be similar.

Thanks kooguy. Any one know of any differences in plant watering in organic vs. chem mixes? Is the frequency and amount generally the same?
