I'm going to be planting into 5 gallon buckets which are 19 liters a piece. So I'm trying to figure out the proper ratio of soil and amendments to fill these buckets.
I have: MG organic choice Sphagnum peat moss Organic humus Dehydrated cow manure Perlite This is the mix I have in mind: 4L-MG 4L-Peat 4L-humus 2L-manure 6L-perlite This makes 20L which will fill a 5 gallon bucket perfect after the soil has been drenched and compacted. Does anyone have any input, too much mush in the mix? too much manure? The humus is very thick so I might use less but its all up in the air. +rep for input! |

Unless the miracle grow has a lot of lime in it you might want to add a little lime. Like a quarter cup or something. The peat moss will break down and your acidic ferts will lower the PH. If it does just PH your watering. Use lots of perlite. Maybe some coir too. I used bad soil for one plant and good for the other two and was surprised by the high clay content. Coir and perlite fix that. Greensand is good too.
