| | Hey everyone, glad all the dust has settled a bit. For what it's worth, I use molasses, when in flowering. Usually I use it about 3 times, maybe 4 at most during flowering. I like to make sure it is the last thing my babies eat. I do not flush my plants at all, my feelings on flushing, are simply this: by needing a flushing, you are saying that there is stuff in your soil that you dont want/need, and/or that there is too much of it present. In an organic grow, there shouldnt be a need for flushing. Moving on, I got off subject a bit, Molasses has many uses, I went out to my (vegetable) garden, and something was eating the leaves on my green pepper plants, I sprayed a mixture of molasses and water on the plants.....and problem was solved instantly. Plants are looking better than ever now too. Peace |

| | I started with molasses on the grow that i am just completing now and i fed them every week with molasses and it has made a noticeable difference.
I am going to grow some naturally small yielding plants on my next grow,my own pppxblueberry, when i say small yielding i mean in comparison to a large indica or sativa, and fimm them and give them only molasses and small amounts of tomato food.
I am hoping to show that even a normally small yielder can be made to give a good yield with just the use of molasses, some tomato food and fimming.
I for one believe that molasses was beneficial to my grow,i do not believe that it is a wonder substance but it certainly does help your plants |

| | I did start of by giving them 2 dessert spoons in 3 litres of water each week into my soil.
However this i felt made the soil smell a bit to much like molasses which i didnt like so i switched it to only 1 dessert spoon a week in 3 litres of water which seemed to work just fine.
Also seems to me that having the soil smelling to much like molasses can attract bugs so be prepared for that with fly strips or trap dishes.
As far as i know molasses is not suitable for hydro or aero grows only soil |

| | I've used molasses in my hydro system, admittedly ebb&flow so nothing to get clogged. I started it about 3 years ago when I tried an organic nutrient by B'Cuzz Atami, and one of the components is called Flavor, and it is mostly beet molasses. I use other nutes now, but I still use their Flavor. I add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per gallon to the nutes during the last 2-3 weeks.

| | I like to use organic brown sugar made from sugarcane called Sucanat, it has a natural molasses flavour and is used in same way as molasses. I add it during floral cycle to help bring out the herbs natural odours, flavours and taste. You can measure sugar content in plants foliage using a refractometer or Brix meter to determine plants' health. The higher the sugar level within the plant tissue, the plant will be stronger and yield more. You can learn about nutrient problems in days or weeks before they are visible in the foliage. A brix reading below 10 indicates lack of nutrient while a reading above 12 signals a strong and healthy plant. Hope this is of help or interest. For anyone interested in obtaining a brix meter try the following website ; OpenDNS . | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
