LoL... I did say no offence
Its when I see posts like... I'd rather trust your answer than anyone elses. Im just like STFU and wipe that sh*t from your nose, I have just last night finished a 360g jar of molasses and im only on the 3rd week of flowering and have been feeding it since the end of week 1 (veg) with almost every watering, So in my very short time growing I have come to find almost every person has a different view on how to do things. And sometimes you have to read between the lines and not take everything at face value or what people tell you, and to try things and find out for your self, as with a hobby like this the only real way to learn is to try it. |

hack, molasses speeds up root grow since it supports the development and volume of useful micro-organisms in soil.
that is the reason why i feed molasses already in vegging, about a single table spoon per gallon. in flower i crank it up to 2 just as mogie. and it works with soil. if someone tries this on hydro, well sorry is either a noob are a moron because with a little thinking it is clear what gone happen, rockwool is no soil and will cloak up.

Molasses can be used in everything apart from hydro systems that rely on tanks/reservoirs/drippers/sprayers etc ie not NFT, DWC, Aeroponics, Flood and Drain etc To be honest, I'm not sure why anyone would want to, Molasses feeds the 'micro-herd' that decompose and chelate organic nutrients in soil grows, they don't exist in hydro systems. It's perfectly acceptable to use Molasses in soiless mixes and grows via hand watering in such as perlite/vermiculite and Coco fibre, which are virtually hydro grows because the base mix contains no nutrients, and these have to be added as in all hydro systems. |

I also checked with son of chong on this one. I always bow to his years of grow experience and the fact he runs a hydro store.
He said, "Two tablespoons starting in the 7th week of flower". I start much earlier. But in flower also. There differing opinions on when to start but we agree on the amount. |

This is why he advocates using a higher two tablespoon doseage. Bigbud starts using his early in vegetative growth at a lower 1 tablespoon doseage, so he's using Molasses at that stage to feed and stimulate the root zone 'micro-herd' which will in turn multiply and colonise greater areas of the rhizosphere and enable a larger and more efficient plant nutrient uptake throughout the vegetative growth stage or for as long as he continues on that doseage. I'm surprised you didn't know this Mogie, perhaps it wasn't in any of the FAQ's? |

well.. thanks for all the replies, i didn't mean to start a fight... but i was just curious..
i was too anxious, and as soon as i started the thread, i went to my plots, and i had a few 2 liter bottles, and i poured enough molasses in each to fill the little dimples at the bottom... probably about 5 tablespoons worth in each two liter. then i filled them up with the running water from the stream and shook it up real good... each bottle was split between two plants, so i guess it works out to two or so tablespoons per plant... i topped two of my babies, and the other 4 are still growing normal. they are all female i believe, because of the intense growth at each node. the one i left home in my garden is really tall and stretched out, and NO growth in any nodes.... look at my journal, it will be updated almost daily, and after wedensdays forecasted rain, i will go check on my babies and see how they took off after a good rain + molasses. thanks! |
