EM*1 and Root Rot?

Ok sorry for sounding like a jackass here but I went to the hydro store yesterday and asked about organic products for root rot. He pointed me to a bottle of EM 1. What exactly does this do? I read alittle bit on the net but unfortunetly my PHD is seven or more years away and most of what I can find is analytical studies. So I was just wondering if anyone has personal experiences with this in relation to marijuana in general and root rot specifically.
