Default Please Help - Exposed Roots to Light
Ok I'm an idiot, I was repotting from 7 litre to 11 litre pots and on the last plant ran out of allmix soil. The 11 litre pot has a few inches soil in bottom and around the bottom half of the plant but the top half is not covered and root mass is exposed. I can't get any soil for 24 hrs and am worried how this will affect the plant... Will it die ? Lights have now been on for 2 hrs of a 12 hour cycle, I was wondering if I should turn off lights till I cover the rest of the plant in soil tomorrow or just leave the cycle as it is and risk the light damaging the roots. 2 weeks into flower with 600 hps 24 inches above canopy. Don't tell me I'm stupid, we all are sometimes just let me know what I can do if anything but pray. Thanks everyone... isolator

Cover the roots with a garbage bag until you get more soil, or osmething to that affect.

You can put shredded newspaper or something over your root mass to help keep light away from it. This will also help retain moisture a bit.

Air root prunes (kills) a root system unless subjected to 100% RH. Ever received a bareroot fruit tree, grapevine, etc. and been emphatically instructed to keep the roots moist until the plant is in the ground?

When you get more soil, upcan to a taller pot burying the plant as deep as you can, up to the first leafsets. The plant will respond with root output from the submerged trunk and maybe from the roots that were exposed if humidity was high enough so that they weren't killed by the exposure to air.

Good luck,
UB
