So its my understanding that everyone likes organic soil grows because that is the way to get the best quality out of your buds. For those of you who have tried soil, and other mediums...didnt you notice a huge difference in yield. With me for example, I did a side by side grow with soil and coco, and the coco anihilated the soil. It vegged much faster, and yielded much more. The guy at the hydor shop I go to said I would have to use pots twice as big, and veg for longer to get the same results I get with coco. As for quality, It was pretty hard to tell for me. I think the soil probably smelled better, but as far as getting you high, it was pretty hard to tell a difference. The thing I liked best about soil, was that it was less maintenance than the coco. So for all you soil growers out there, how did you come to the conclusion that this was the best medium for you?

Did you have any problems with the coco grow? I am doing one right now and they veg'd really really nice but now in flowering my fan leaf edges are rust colored. I'm not sure if its a combo of transplant, bushmaster feeding for one week or something else?

I personally experienced a Mg defiiciency early on, which I corrected with some cal mag. Thats another great thing about coco, once I gave it the cal-mag, it responded very quickly. Hmm, rust colored edges...nuteburn maybe?

I use cal mag also.....I used bushmaster to help control the verticle height. I used it alone for one week and just ph'd the mixture. Then I did a transplant and fed them ph'd water and super plant tonic. Started bloom nutes back up so it was about 10 days with just the bushmaster and SPT. I'm thinking a cal or mag def? I really dont know at this point. It hasnt gotten any worse and maybe even a bit better.

Is it happening form the bottom up? do you see any interveinal chlorosis(where the veins are dark green, but the rest of the leaf is yellowing)

I went organic based on the bud that I have bought. It seems whenever the person made a point to tell me its organic those were the bags I could smell across the room. Also seems to taste better then the hydro I get. Might just be the growers and the methods though

I've tried both, soil and hydro and am stickin with soil.
Soil: Positive: You need to check on your plants a minimum of 1/week to water or if you know some tricks, 1/month. Quality, potency and smell of the buds, I found, are highly superior. Negative: +1-2 week of vegging and +1-2 weeks of flowering would be the estimate. May be a source of mess and pests for some. Bad soil can lead to nute burn. Hydro: Positive: Much quicker. Larger yealds by 50-80%. Negative: Lower quality bud regarding potency and aroma. A constant worry of flooding your house. Unnatural. Plants are more prone to mineral deficiencies. You cannot use molasses. You need to check up on the plants daily, maybe even more often. The prospect of a bad flushing causing horribly tasting bud with negative health effects. This is just my opinion formed from my personal experience. I have chosen soil because I don't ever grow more than 4 plants at the same time and get enough yeald to serve my desires and to give to my friends. This does not mean that hydro is useless, bad or inefficient, just that it has different requirements and it reaches different goals than soil growth (yeald, potency, time til finish).

I prefer soil growing over hydro. Did both at seperate times. I like the ease of soil, plus the fact it's natural. Growing in water does give a larger yield, but it lacks soul (taste, aroma, body).
