Default curling leaves!!
im having a problem with some crazy curling of some leaves. only at the tops of the plants. middle an bottoms are looking great. let me first say i had them under a 130 CFL from seed and theyre just over 12" tall now. 4 days ago i put them in our space which has a 600w HPS in an aircooled shade. temp is awesome, however the humidity is really low for veg. its sittin at 30%. i know, thats really low. im wondering if this could be my problem?? the top leaves are curling downwards really bad. the tips are almost further than the stem ends. but like i said, only the top ones are doing this. they are a little bit N deficient as they are goin fairly light green, but im still gettin used to my new BMO bat guanos. anyone got any ideas as to what my prob could be?? maybe they just need to aclimate to the new area with the much more intese light?? also id like to add that they are almost a foot from the light and temps are perfect so its not heat doing this.

thanks in advance Rollitup!

ive looked over that and i cant seem to find the "curling" that they are exhibiting. like i said they are a little bit lacking the N but nothing major or to be worried about. i am really stumped. also i dont have a camera so i cant take any pics, cuz i know pics would really help

Curling is always heat related. Try a foilage spray or misitng with plain water. Get the humidity up. Get a FAN too.

First off, since "clawing" is such a common problem, I addressed it many years ago by drafting this ditty: Plant Moisture Stress - symptoms and solutions It has your answers. Having said that, mi dos centavos ~

Too much light. You went from about 800 f.c. (if lucky) to about 9,000 f.c., move that HPS about 18" off the tops. Less is more now. The plant is not acclimated to such light levels and is showing its stress via the curling leaf margins and yellowing.

temp is awesome,
Doesn't matter, again, see my link.

It's not low if the root system is adequate and can handle the high transpiration rates. Doesn't hurt to mist a couple of times a day though.

That's because your high light has bleached out the chlorophyll. Not good. Chlorophyll, or the pigment that gives a plant its green color is the lifeblood of the plant. Lose it and you lose carbo production via photosynthesis. Simple botany bro. I would increase the N. Adding more say.....10-10-10 does not increase N in relationship to the other NPK elements. You need to scratch in some blood meal into the top 1" of soil or add something like a 30-10-10 now.

Now perhaps you guys can help me. I just tried to add a sig link and have forgotten the proper syntax. Having a senior moment ya know. Any help would be appreciated so I can go back and do mah thang.

Good luck,
UB

are your plants root bound?

whenever you see the top of a plant doing poorly, 90% of the time there's a problem with your roots. another problem might be the level of soil around the stem. make sure you see a root flare. if it is buried your plant will not be able to get the oxygen it needs.

another good indicator of these problems is epicormic sprouting from the base of the plant. (new leafs sprouting down low)

I have had curling under leaves, back then it was heat and nuts.

How is your watering schedule. Could you be over watering? Are the leaves limp or just curling. How is the colouring on them? Can you post pics.
