Default Organics
Fellow growers,
I have been wanting to start a thread for awhile but just have not got around to it... I am fairly new to this but I feel I know a bit about all this as I am alot more interested in it than many. Anyways, feel free to use this for discussion.

Currently I am between grows and I am planning my next right now with drastic changes. My last grow was a test of a homemade aeroponics system that my buddy and I built (See Cann for info on that) and it was kinda a bust. But what can I say... I mean we spent under $50 for supplies and such and got a little over 4 ounces wet for a couple plants. From that you can infer that we came into some problems(res temps, light issues, the works..). The next couple weeks should be exciting though... This is the plan:

6 8-12 gallon pots (undecided)
2 600w hps/mh lights (going to be separated, one hps on one side, mh on the other.)
The sections will be approximately 3x3x5
Most likely.. Subcools strain Pandoras Box which gets me excited just thinking about

Plants will be under flouros for the first 1-2 weeks to make sure there stable and wont burn up.
Nutrients: I figure that with the root soil I will almost be set... but I also am a huge fan of BMO. Going to be using Grow It Green, SPT, and Foliar harmony.

Soil:
Worm castings(BMO)
3 lb of chicken manure(BMO)
Root organics soil which looks like its going to be a winner...
It contains many beneficial ingredients including Sea Bird Guano, wonder worm castings, fish bone, Oregon-ism mycorrhizae, kelp meal, green sand Bat Guano, soy bean meal, leonardite, K-Mag, glacial rock dust, alfalfa meal and oyster shell.
Im interested as to the breakdown of the rock dust as I may soon be titling my threads with ALOHA. I hear the rich volcanic soil grows amazing plants.

I am also in the process of making my own compost... which wont be ready for this grow but Im sure it will be happy to contribute to future plants. Does anybody have any tips on compost? I think Im going to hit the beach sometime soon for crab shells which I have heard provide good minerals. Anything else I could snag up while im there? And does anyone have any firsthand experience with worms directly IN pots?

Also, any thoughts or results of anyone using the Oregonism XL?? Im thinking of mixing it near the bottom of the pot for budding later on...

Well thats it for tonight... Peace and Bud.

What is BMO? (EDIT BMO="Blue Mountain Organics") I'm new to organic growing, so I'm learning myself.

I find worms in all of my containers. When I grow in containers I use straight soil out of my compost and there are always an abundence of worms in there. I then only use manure teas to feed during the grow along with molasses and super thrive up until flower.

Oyster Shells you can pick up as well. They are full of Ca. The Roots organic soil is a good choice for a base soil. Add about 33% perlite to your mix as well. Those microbeasties need a shit load of oxygen, and if they don't get it they will steal it from the roots, actually inhibiting the plant.

I'd use that Oregonism XL right under the root ball at transplant, and mix some globally in your soil as well. Let it cook for about 2-3 weeks and those little beasties will be just waiting to cling onto any available food source around (your roots!).
