Default The Role of "Teas" in the overall scheme
OK, I figured out that I'm gonna be top dressing my nutes (Guano, bone meal, etc.) Applying every 2 weeks.
How does feeding a tea fit in here? Is a Tea supposed to be the primary nute source, or are they to be used in conjunction with topdressing or other nute sources?
This grow is going wonderfully, and the LAST thing I want to do is burn 'em. I have approximately 4 more weeks of vegging left, probably 8 more waterings and 4 more doses of guano (10-3-1). Should I SLOWLY lower the N and increase the P into flower, or is an abrupt change in nutes OK?
One of the 16 babies is showing signs of Mg deficiency. (Could be lacking P tho) Should I be adding a tsp or so of Epsom salts to the water periodically? And should I raise the P from 3 now and then?

I'm getting brain ache from all this thinking!!!!

TheLastPirate...... I like making teas - watering them in, then taking the sediments (aka-crud) and dividing it up evenly between my plants (topdressed). The left over sediments will then break down slowly releasing the rest of the NPK in them to Mary.
.
Then then next time I make tea and water it in, I don't topdress the left over's - I drop them in my compost barrel. By alternating between topdressing the sediments and putting them in the compost barrel - I ensure I don't overfeed Mary. Since you are growing in containers, this would also ensure you don't overfill your container (which can cause soil to compact - reducing oxygen to the roots.)
.
Now, some people don't like making teas. They just top dress their bat guanos, bone meal...etc. and pour water over them in the container. That works too. I just prefer the other way. Both will get the job done.
.
You do need to start reducing the N slowly and adding upwards on the P. Used in Tea or Top Dressed - I use my Bat Guanos, Worm Castings...etc....as my primary source of fertilizer.
.
Hope this helps....& I really like the new avatar....

Rix... You are absolutely correct. The key to successful organic growing is to feed the soil. Then let it feed your plants, with all it's micro - goodness.
