help ive got fungus gnats not bad that i know of. i need some4 ideas of home based pest control. that is organic, or the best way to git rid of the bastards. please help.

are you in growing in soil or medium? you might put a layer of perlite on top about 1" thick. yellow fly strips work well, there attacted to the bright color.

shit i forgot to tell the set up duh,
im growing in hydroton clay pellets with whip feeders feed from top into catch basin to return to resovior. pellets look dry on top, but the little bastards keep flying around.
ive tryed to place a potato wedge for several hours. and didnt notice anything happening but the potato turning black.

Candylime12...... An easy way to kill off these little bas*ards is as follows :

mix one teaspoon of sugar to two teaspoons of Diamatious Earth (it's the skeletal remains of diatoms - they are like micro sized shrapnel) - put this mix into a small shallow container (like a coffee can plastic lid), next to your plants. The fungus gnats will go for the sugar and receive numerous pucture wounds. Their bodily fluids will leak out and they will die a gruesome death. That part makes me smile. I hate fungus gnats.

Sticky strips (fly strips) will also snag um' and they die from dehydration, again that makes me smile. I mix DE into the top layer of my soil, so if they try to dig in & drop eggs - they die trying....

but i take it that theres no way to get at the roots. at the larva.
i only see like one on two but i figured if theres one theres more
so far ive placed a paper towel center sprayed with that temp hair dye stuff it yellow and its sticky pluse since i put it in there there's a couple on there, magiver style.
