Boneman.... Lots of bottled water is run through some basic processing. The labels tend to be pretty vague. That processing can be as simple as a sediment filter, but often includes either a bromine or chlorine infused - two stage filter element. . Both will only add trace amounts of those chemicals to the water. Like in the PPB (parts per billion) range. If chlorine is added after processing, they are required by law to state the ingredients on the label. So, just check the label. . Bottled water (99 % of the time) is not a threat to micro-beasties or you. Not even RO water is absolutely pure. . I don't drink bottled water myself, routinely, because I feel it wastes natural resources. But, last year when a Tornado, left us without power & water for a few days - I was glad the local grocery store had it. . Keep it Real....Organic...... . |

Instead of the nice green color everyone is talking about all I got my self Is bright yellow leaves. Can someone help. And its not overywatering either.

Bigtymer930.... Are you letting your tap water sit out overnight to remove the chlorine in it ? When you add SPT it needs to be to unchlorinated water or you will just kill the micro-beasties in it. It is normal for the pH to shift downwards, when you add SPT. It levels out after an hour or so. If you mix it right up and water it into soil, the soil acts as a buffer - so, there is no danger to your plants. In hydro, the same downward shift occurs, but within a hour, it levels right back out. . The chlorine in tap water is very bad for Mary, it will cause harsh yellowing of leaves, burn roots & kill all the micro-beasties in the soil or res, which are needed for good growth. . I would not use tap water with a pH of 8 to water anything. That is too alkaline and will cause tissue damage to leaves & roots also. Over time that chlorine can build up in soil or a res to toxic levels. It will kill Mary. . I would flush my pots with some bottled water, wait a day, check my soil pH. If you are in hydro, I would dump the res and reload. . Hope this helps... Keep it Real...Organic..... Last edited by Ohsogreen; 10-24-2008 at 06:27 PM.. |

I never water with chlorine or 8.0 water but anything you add to the water normaly brings it down to the perfect range around 7. And like you said about it coming up after an hour, it doesnt it stays at 4.0 thats why I think there is something wrong with my bottle. I have been doing this for awhile I am not a new grower I am just new to this site. When I first got the bottle everything was fine, any other ideas.

Bigtymer930.... If you live in or near a large city, more & more municipal water systems are switching from chlorine gas (injected into the water stream) and to a new pour in, chlorine replacement, that does not evaporate from the water. . A pH of 7 is neutral, I only water - with water with a pH of 6.5 or under (5.8 pH) lower limit with soil. If it is too low or too high, I oxygenate my fert or SPT mix, using a cheap aquarium air pump / air stone overnight. If that does not correct the pH, I correct it, by adding in a natural pH up or pH down solution. . If your water has the new pour in chlorine, it has to be removed using a de-chlorinator liquid, like used for aquariums. Seamaiden is the expert when it comes to these matters. Send her a private message, she's real helpful & knowledgeble. . I've used about a dozen bottles of SPT to date, they do lower pH for a short time, but if your water is hanging at a pH of 4. I'd check the water for the presence of Chlorine (chlorine test kit - sold at pool supply stores - measures the concentration of chlorine). . In the short term, I'd get some cheap bottled water from Walmart. Flush my medium and check the soil pH the following day (24 hours later - in order to get a true reading). Since, whatever is happening is in that soil, affecting Mary. . Just a thought - what are you using to measure your pH of ferts or SPT ? A low pH meter battery, or an uncalibrated meter can cause false readings. Another grower on this site, had a meter that gave him bad readings, he based what he did, relying only on what that pH meter said & it was wrong. I never trust one meter to tell me everything, meters sometimes fail. Double check the info being presented, using a another input or source. . I's also phone the water company and ask what type of chlorine they use to be sure. If it's not the gas (that is injected) it will have to be removed chemically (aquarium de-chlorinator solution). . Hope this helps... Keep it Real...Organic.... Last edited by Ohsogreen; 10-24-2008 at 06:47 PM.. |

I just ordered two bottles of SPT. Syked to see the results!
I am running the following nutes currently. Ionic Grow Ionic Bloom Ionic Boost Hygroyme Nitrozime Greenfuse Bloom Boost Europonic Fossil Fuel (humic+fulvic) GH SubCulture Is this going to be too hot or too much microbeasties when used with subculture? Should I use the SPT alone and water? |

UgmjFarmer.... If you water one week & feed the next in rotation. I'd use the SPT mixed at full strength (on my watering only week). I expand on that in the next paragraph. . If you feed weekly, I'd use the SPT (mixed full strength) just by itself the first time. Then use nothing else for three days, to allow the micro-beasties to establish their community. After that, resume your normal routine, but at slightly lower doses. Mix your SPT, if feeding weakly - weekly - at half strength. . The micro-beasties in the SPT will make your roots more effiecent at absorbing things, so you have to go easy or else nute burn can occur - and quickly. . That's a pretty hot toolbox you have there. Low, Slow & Steady is the key to reaching maximum potential. Good Luck with your grow - SPT is some great stuff - it definately makes Mary a happy girl..... . Keep it Real....Organic.... Thank you ohsohelpful/ohsogreen. I'm experiencing nute burn already (before they bottles even get here that is). Time for a flush. But thank you for the advice. My hope is to replace paying tons of money for voodoo juice with these magical bottles. |
