Drumsinttown..... Placing the probe end of your meter in soil, will damage it. It will not give you an accurate reading in soil. Hanna makes combo meters for accurately measuring soil EC, & pH but they are too expensive for me ($ 295 +).

The Frugal Guys Alternatives : Litmus paper ($ 7 - Wormsway Online), a cheap pH probe (Walmart - $ 8) or a cheap soil test kit ($ 12 - most garden centers).
