OK so I don't know if anyone has done this or has any reason not too, but I use sucanat (which comes in a crystal or almost powder form) instead of molasses. On my last batch of soil that I mixed along with many other things that I added to my FF soil I added sucanat directly into the soil mixture. Just figured why not, since I would be watering with it anyhow. It's been 2 weeks and nothing bad has happened, though I can't say I've seen anything special either. Does anyone have any thoughts/reasons on whether this is a good or bad idea, seems like a good idea to me, but what do I know anyhow. Just thought I would run this one by you folks.

well thanks so far I was expecting that it would break down a bit slower, and I will also be using some in my waterings so this is actually a plus and not a drawback. I have read the subcool sucanat thread in the past, and just about everything else he has to say on here, that man knows what he's doing. I would still like to here if anyone has tried this or if anyone has any reason that this will or will not work. Thanks again.

thanks for the bump willie, but I can't believe it's been a week and still no answer or even really an opinion on this. I would be ohso (nudge nudge) appreciative of anyone who could atleast throw a guess at me.

If you are going to be using the soil for flower it is fine and you will not have any problems but as you already said it will break down slower--make sure to build your benif/enzimes/fungi colonies--sucanat is a great food source for the soil ecology---since sucanat comes in crystallized form I have been making simple syrup a gallon at a time. It breaks down completely and works great in teas or direct feeds.------good luck...
