    Default Help with TDS meter

I had a hanna ppm meter but it broke. My friend gave me a HM TDS meter awhile ago but it reads differently than the Hanna. Can anyone help me and tell me what the PPM should read on the TDS meter for growing in soil? I am using fox farms soil and general hydroponics nutes. Thanks

    Alright, some knowledge.

A TDS Meter is a Total Dissolved Solids measuring tool. It tells you how many Parts Per Million of any Dissolved Solids are within the solution. With that being said, TDS and PPM meteres are one and the same. PPM is the measurement.

Now possibly your friend gave you an EC meter, and that could be throwing you off. EC is Electrical conductivity and measure how well a solution can conduct an electrical signal sent through it.

Can you give us some model numbers or pictures to help us help you?

Well I usually run a 1000 to 1200 ppm solution according to my hanna meter. This is also the recommended nute levels of GH. The HM TDS meter says the solution is around 600-700ppm.

You wont need veg nutes using FFOF soil. You will need to see what your plants like so start light on the nutes say 400ppm and go from there.
