Hi, I'm extremely new at this and only plan on growing a couple plants to start. My first question is about germination. I'm trying to keep it simple but if it's not effective then I'm open minded. Should I germinate them in between wet paper towels? Because of my living conditions I will be able to give the plant lots of natural light indoors. My first question is this: should I also use a small flour. bulb over the two plants? The second question is about soil: can I keep the plant in a commercial soil throughout its life cycle after germination? What sort of nutrients or other additives do I need to add to it? I plan to put the plants each in a 3 gallon pot, so what all do I need to add from start to finish aside from the soil? Also, what should I add to the water, and should I water the pot directly or spray it, or a combination of the two? I've heard about urine being put in the plants cause of their nitrogen content? I appreciate the help in advance, and please keep it simple for starters...

both times ive grown ive germinated my seeds in a folded moist paper towel and put it in a ziploc bag in a dark spot for a couple days, this works fine.

if you want to give some extra light i would suggest using a few cfl's to add more light. they produce very little heat, and use little power and put out a good amount of light.

as for soil use regular potting soil, without nutrients already added. people have different opinions about using soil w/nutes but its just safer to add them yourself.

use 1 plant per pot - 1gallon = 1ft growth

dont piss in your pot (no pun intended) - use real nutrients

For the simplest way to germinate, just put the seeds in the damp soil. The reason we germ in paper towels is just to make sure that the seeds open, before we plant them. But it takes care, the seed and root tip are fragile. So for first timers, just plant them.

You will want some supplemental lighting, so you can control things.

Just use good potting soil, you won't need any fertilizer for the first 4-5 weeks. Then use a complete mix like Peter's.
