I use tap water all the time. I let it sit 24hrs so the chlorine can evaporate. Then you are all good.
Most people like filtered water cause it is easier to work with. And they only want the best for their ladies.
Topic says it all. Is it okay to use city tap water to water my plants?

HI ONE!
Don't worry so much about the chlorine,,, BUT the PPM is something that might be an issue..
PPM from the tap should be below 200.. I have seen PPM come from the tap that was 242 in California. This water was so HARD that aeroponic and hydroponic gardens could not be grown without a filter..

do YOU know about PH... ?
.
I use city tap water that has a starting PPM of 500. Been using it in hydro and aero for many years.
Chlorine and Ammonia are infused into the water, and will dissipate if let to sit for at least 24 hours. Some people say that aerating the water will speed this process.

How can you be sooooooo concerned about vinegar and then use 500ppm water straight from the tap.. where do you live Afghanistan...
LOL
500ppm.. ahahahha your killing me
Are you reading your meter correctly.. get that thing calibrated...
iloveyou
Hey Man,
I'm not concerned about vinegar, it will work, temporarily. What I said was that it's a shitty thing to use for pH control. Phosphoric acid or fulvic acid are much better to use because you don't get the rebound, and the plant can use it. Even nitric acid is better than vinegar.
Yes, San Diego's water is high in dissolved solids, but the hardness factor is not high, so it's not a problem for me. No one here even uses the hard water micro. If it was hard water, a good grower can make adjustments.
So you have to get your meter calibrated, huh? I have 3 monitors in use, and I calibrate them regularly. When you're older, you'll be able to do it yourself, too.![]()

noob question, how do you check the ppm (i'm imagining some Radio Shack type device)? And for those who grow 3-4 plants at once, how do you manage the 24 hr water evaporation cycle, you must go through 3-4 rotating buckets of water a day if the water has to sit for 24hrs, no?
Thanks
