I decided to sample a cola from my first grow. So I quick dried it and am pretty damn high, thank you very much. I wanted to see if I liked it with less % amber trichomes. It tastes like shit because I didn't cure it, but it still works. (Alright, the truth is I was jonesin' and I needed a pick me up... so sue me!)

This batch of 15 plants is $60/ounce bag seed (mix of indica and sativa). However, I now have seedlings of 4 Blockhead and 1 Cherry Kush. 100% germination for those 5 seeds, thankfully (and they were from friends' bags). I'll hate it if I can't get at least one female from the Blockhead. If the Kush is male... no biggie, as long as the Blockhead has a female to pollinate.

OK, I've also changed my set up/grow room. For my seedlings, and vegging, I took a metal garage shelving unit and wrapped three sides with 4mm plastic lining. On the front I drilled on a bamboo PVC shade, which is lined on the back side with black plastic lining and mylar. (I've also got mylar all along the sides of each shelf.) The blind rolls up, and when it's down it Velcro's to the shelving unit. I've fixed 4' fluorescent (2 bulbs) across the top of each shelf.

My PVC set up changed for the flowering stage. I built a rectangular PVC structure approximately 4' (W) by 5' (L) by 6' (H). The whole structure is wrapped in 4mm black plastic sheeting and is lined with reflective mylar. I've got four 4' (2 bulb) fluorescent shop lights spaced 10 inches apart hanging from the top (running 4' feet across the width). Horizontally, along the two 5' long sides, I've attached four more 4' (2 bulb) shop lights (two on either side) for side lighting. (The two 4' sides are my access doors so no lighting is on them). Each of the bulbs is 2700 lumen and 40 watts (sixteen 40w bulbs for 640 watts for that space of 120 cubic feet). Cannavertisy tells me the following for the above space:

Lighting
The optimum reccomended lighting for your area is 800 watts
Ventilation
For optimum ventilation the flow rating of your fan should be around 110.0 Cubic Feet per Minute
Power Requirements
This setup will require 8.7 amps to be available at all times for safest operation*

Since it's a bit short, I've also got several clamp lights (with a two-bulb splitter on each) hanging from the fluorescent shop lights with 2 150w CFL's in each clamp. Those run along the shop lights next to the various plants. I love the fluorescents because of the energy savings. I know... metal halide is best for flowering, but it's just too expensive for me right now. It would be MUCH easier to have two 400w MH lights. Maybe I'll ask for those for Christmas?!

I can keep my vegging light stages separate from my flowing light stages. On this batch of Cherry Kush and Blockhead I've used my organic seeding block mix (for my vegetables) and hope to get a few mother plants to continually clone. They are an inch long at the most, so I've got some time to go, but I'll keep it posted.

nice! I've heard that blockhead is a powerful strain, one that many growers keep as a headstash. Where did you get the seeds?

The strain was being sold around here the last few weeks, and we happened to get our hands on 4 seeds out of some bags. So, for all I know I've got four males. We'll see. Worse comes to worse I'm breed all the males with some more bagseed.
