Online in at sites for seeds when it says flowering period 8-10 weeks does it mean time you let veg before flowering? Or total time it takes to grow?

Mj takes on average about 3-4 months to grow from seed to harvest.
Read all the way through a few grow guides and youll have a good idea of how long you need to grow in different stages for.
Theres plenty of info on this site and theres many other forums and sites too.
It also depends on the setup you have how you can grow your plant.

So would you recommend a 18/6 light cycle for vegging or a 24 cycle?

I use an 18/6 cycle for the veg room. If you want the absolutely fastest growth, then use 24 hours of light. But the difference is small from 18, so why not save some $. Also, using those 6 hours of darkness during the hottest time in the room is usually a good thing.

the 8-10 weeks is just 8-10 weeks of flowering. You will still need to veg for 4-8 weeks or so depending on how tall you want your plant to get, I suggest going atleast 6 weeks if you can. Keep in mind the 8-10 weeks is just an estimate you should get yourself a magnifying glass and keep watch on the trichs to really know when your buds are ready. Usually when they are starting to turn from cloudy to amber.

No It Just Means The Flowering Time Most Types Take Atlest 2 To 3 Mounths To Full Flower.

When you mention the 8-10 weeks is just the 8-10 of flowering, I am a little unclear about what you mean by flowering. Do you mean when the first pistillate calyxes (preflowers) are seen, do you mean when you switch to 12+ hours darkness, or somewhere in between like longer veg with finger-sized flowers on them?
I know about the trichrome and hair methods of timing the harvest, but I'm always tryign to improve. Mine are a decent bit earlier than advertised times by at least a week. More interesting than that, i just finished growing some of these same strains and they seemed to finish a bit slower... I did double the lighting and get some more/better nutes this time (2x600W instead of just 1). Any thoughts?

Hmmmm.... 4 years later...
I think it takes a few days before flowering actually begins after the 12/12 switch, but 8 to 10 weeks is a pretty big window. I plan on all strains taking 10 weeks from the 12/12 switch and begin watching the trichomes sometime around day 55. They are done when they are done. 80 days is usually my cut off.

I am wondering how this happens. I have not ben growing long but I would say that out of the 40 or so seeds that I have sprouted ( 10 bag seeds-20 off a hermaphrodite plant) Maybe only 3 have been a male. I am mostly always pleased to see a female. But is this just luck or do hermie plants tent to produce females.
