hello, im planning to mix 60% potting soil with 40% perlite. So do i just both into a pot and mix it up or do i layer them?

pour both in a container and mix thoroughly.

some growers put a handful of perlite in the bottom of the pot unmixed as well but personally i dont like doing this cause when i pull the plant out of the pot i get a nice cloud of bad dust to breath

We put a layer of pure perlite on the bottom for better drainage and for the roots to breathe better. You can mix it all up no problems. The next grow is going to be grown in Canna Coco Coir.

40% perlite? sounds too much, i dont know about soils much, though.
