what are good lights i can use that dont cost too much? i just want to grow 2 or 3 plants in my closet. i have watched some videos on growing and have grown a few times outside in the summer.

i was just planning on putting them in buckets in my closet with some lights, feeding them some viatamins and maybe miracle grow?

any thoughts?

They are not the cheapest but hps all the way.

Well from what i read anyway

if ur gonna use buckets then u should invest in an hps....cfl's are fine but u will need alot....hps will cover 3-4 large plants.....i used a min of 3 26w cool cfl's per plant and hps for flower.

For 1 plant... 2 X 46w cfl ($15) + 2 X 26 cfl ($10)..If you can the cheapest better is T5's.. (2-3 plants). 2 x blue spectrum bulbs, plus reflector and hanger $50 -60...red bulb for same socket $19..so for 70 - 80... you have veg & flower spectrums..It won't grow dense buds, but you can get a great crop from them...any hydro store & some hardware .. or

reflector almost for free: how to make your own reflector

some say it looks fire hazard, but no, it isnt. i made 2 of those and theyre working great. almost no heat at all in reflector.

foil DOESNT make hot spots. im using aluminim foil for about ~15 days very close to plants and i dont see any single burn.

Well, HPS creates a lot more heat (due to efficiency) than CFL's which is something you have to consider. From what I can tell the HPS cost is almost the same, if not lesss than CFL's. This is just because the HPS creates more lumens per watt, and you'll need at least 7X43w CFL's to compare to a 250w HPS. Even then it's still a lesser amount of lumens.

whats all involved with an hps light? how many 23w cfl's would i need to flower one plant? sorry dude...not trying to steal ur thread but i figured i would ask since this is about lighting and didnt wanna start a new thread about the same thing.

no problem solo. also, ok well ive been looking on ebay. now it says 23w=100w? for a cfl? so i can use these 23w lights or what? i was thinking i would get three lights, for two plants. that sounds good doesnt it? so what do i need? two daylight bulbs and one sunlgiht bulb? or the other way around?
