I got a new job fixing up an old rental for my boss. The people who used to live there trashed it and pretty much destroyed the house. There were stairs leading to the house and the basement was under the stairs, like an upstairs apartment. On the basement floor I noticed a small marijuana plant. I was surprised but I new that it wasn't the landlords because of its location. So I figured the people that used to live ther tossed some seeds over the patio and a marijuana plant started to grow after they left. It wasn't that large, and I made my mind up that I would get it before anyone else noticed it. Like 1 to 2 weeks went by and I didn't really have an opportunity to get it and it was getting bigger. At that momment it was 31 inches and grew amazingly fast in the shade!! The main stem was about 3/4 iches thick and it wasn't skinny and sickly looking. I didn't want it getting any older before I got it because I new it would take some time for it to come back. I rode my bike about 3/4s mile from my house and brought a black trash bag with me. I used a small spade to dig it up in like total darkness and I was rushing to do it because no one lived there but there were neighbors around that could see me. I couldn't see so I didn't get much soil up and practicaly pulled nothing but roots up. I got the main root in one peice nad about 4-6 inches of roots with it and but it in the trash bag and brought rode through the woods getting wacked by branches and splashing through puddles. I opened the bag and it had a strong odor. My mom potted it for me. lol. and its been like a week. most of the old leaves dried or are dieing. It was in complete shock and I know the roots are growing back. I have it getting light from my upstairs window. New leaves are growing, mostly from the top branches. There growing slowly but its comming back. Does anyone have any information that could help me bring this plant back? Or any comments on my stupidity. lol. should I use my 96 watt flouresant lamp on the plant during the night to increase growth. Also, should I cut off the dead leaves? or will they fall off by themselves. How do I tell if it was a waste of time and I got a male plant. Is there any use for a male plant? Thank you in advance

A male plant is worthless unless you are breeding. It sounds like a cool thing to do but you prolly wont have a good turn out. You may get lucky. The main problem I see is that it was growing outside and now its inside by your window. That not really good enough to grow a plant. I would try to take it back outside so it can get better light. You wont have very good luck with the floresent. It will grow but when it buds they will be lose and prolly not as potent as say a hps or mh light could do. But leaving a light on it during the night will keep it in the grow cycle. So you are right about that. But to get it to bud you will need 12 on 12 off of light. So as long as you keep the extra light on there it wont ever bud.
My advice would be to take it back outside. Put it in the shade for a couple days so you dont shock it with the intence light from the sun. For now I would get maybe some fish emultion or some bloode meal. High in nitrogen wich the plant needs to grow stem and leaf. Once you start to bud you will want to find a fertilizer higher in phospherous. Something like 5-20-5 would be ok. There is really alot of option you can do but these are pretty available from local hardware stores. But if you can find a hydroponic store you can get some nicer fertilizers designed for the plant.
The next thing you should do is read some books or get you some videos on how to grow cause it will take some time to figure the whloe thing out. I am in the process of writing a how to step by step so I can win me some free seeds. There is a lot to it so it going to take me atleast a week to get it posted up. Oh I almost forgot. If the leaves are brown then go ahead and remove them. If half my leaf is green and the other half is brown then I just cut off the brown part of the leaf. The plant uses energy to try to repair the wounded leaf(the brown) so if you remove it it will use more of that energy to make new growth.

The window I have it at is a huge window and it gets a lot of light in there. None of the leaves are brown there still green but curled up and dry. Should I just cut them off at the main stem or at the tip of the end of the leaf? or should I leave it? The thing is that plant was very shaded outside and I feel it is getting more light by that window than it was in backyard. It was on the side of a two story house surounded by oak trees.

I pruned all the dead leaves off and used some multipurpose miracle grow (untill I get some better stuff) Its growing a lot faster and that was after pruning it. I added the fertilizer today so I haven't seen the effects. Im not an expert as you can see. lol. But I think its a female. I heard talk about little hair like structures comming from the nodes. They are only about half an inch long and don't look like they were fully developed when I pulled it up. Will it revert to the growing stage and delay flowering if I give it continuous light? And does that sound like a female to you? Im thinking about taking some pictures or something. Thanks for all your help.

I had a buddy that grew some plants outdoors using miracle grow. He had no clue what he was doing. When they got about a foot and a half they just looked real wimpy and light green. He got some blood meal and added it to the ground around the plants. They took off strong and ended up being about 8 feet tall when they budded. I was really shocked to see them.
They were just some good mexican seeds. They were big but it wasnt the greatest buzz.
Anyways what Im getting at is you will need more than just miracle grow to get the plant strong and healthy.
And if you use blood meal read the instructions and mix it in the soil before you transplant. I added some to a couple moms the way my friend did and I think they are burnt now.

Im not too sure but I would think the plant would do better under florescents in a closet than in the window. I dont know but where im from people dont just put their pot plant in the window. But I dont think it would get enough light anyways. If you have a window on your ceiling and east and west wall then I would say fuck yeah.

I know exactly what your saying about the plant and the window. lol. I live in the country and the only way to even see the back of my house is to drive like 500 yards around my drive way. And if your parked in the driveway you can't see in my upstairs window the way its made. I just do that during the day. At night I put it under a 6 foot flouresent light. and I put foil all around the plant and it looks pretty bright. I don't know but I think a lot more growing happens at night. And you said you can get blood meal from a hardware store? The window is just in the right spot to get full morning sun and when the light starts to die down I put the plant back with the flouresent lighting. tommorrow I'll take some pictures and you can tell me what you think about my bootleged ass set up. haha

I put it under flouresent lights for good and I moved it away from the window. I think its pissed off. It dropped all the leaves it was growing and barely has any leaves left. it has like 2 leaves supporting a 3 foot plant. and the leaves arent full size. I think I should have left it by the window till it came back from the shock of having its root system screwed up. It was a shade plant and now its in bright light and I don't know if adding more light will piss it off more. The stem is still green but it doesn't look like its making much effort to grow leaves. What do you think is going on? Looks like its dieing. My mom is a horticulterist and she says its just in shock and pissed off cause I moved it around from the window to the flouresent light. I think maybe its growing leaves to adjust to the light spectrum the flouresents put off? But I really don't see any new leaves. Thank you for your help so far. Looks like I might be starting over with some new seeds. At leaste that way they will be used to the flouresents from germination. I was thinking about adding another light. Bad idea?
