Default trimming question???
Indoor, big blu (NL #5 X Blueberry), 1st grow, 3 1/2 wks into flowering. Would it be a good/bad idea to cut off some or all of the large fan leaves so that the buds can get more light?
thnx in advance

No, fold the leaves out of the way. The fan leaves are your main sugar factories and by cutting off the fan leaves you would be cutting off a source of carbohydrates to your buds. If you have to, tie up the buds in a way so they get more light. In the future you can use a technique called LST (Low stress Training...google it).

This question comes up quite often, you'll probably see some responses where a few people will swear by cutting off the fan leaves but what these people won't do is provide a credible source to back up their claims of the benefits of cutting off fan leaves beyond a few dope head anecdotes ("dude, I cut the fan leaves and I got these bitchin' buds! Dude!"). No where in botany will you find a peer reviewed white paper supporting cutting off the healthy fan leaves of any type of plant. Remember this when people recommend that you cut off fan leaves.

From personal experience,do not cut fan leaves, they store energy for plant growth....either pull and tie branches,or cut half of the leaf blocking the bud site

Leave the leaves alone. Dont ever cut them in any stage of growth. PERIOD!
