Every post I read talks about mixing a tsp. of fertilizer to a gallon of water, and then "go fertilize the plant." what does that exactly mean, though? does it mean instead of watering the plant with plain water, you do one watering session with the fertilizer-water you just mixed, and then you switch back to plain watering until its time to fertilize again?

Fertilizer contains nutrients the plant needs. And if in soil, feed them every other watering.

i was going for how much quantity to give my plants. so for this scenario, say my plant needs a quart of water every day. this would mean on the 2nd and 4th day etc., i would do a quart of my fertilzer+water mixture instead of just regular water. is this correct?
i understand that fertilizer is for feeding the plant, just no one seemed to specify a quantity

it depends on the type of fert you have, directions are different for each one!

give them the normal amount substituted with the fert. water

Any nutes you buy should have the directions on it. When I am just starting them on nutes. I mix mine up in a large bucket. I don't go full strength. I start at 1/4 and gradually incrase to full. Yes if you water every 4 days, you will feed every 8 days. I use just plain ph'd water between feedings.
