Hey do female preflowers also come out of these bulging sections of stem or is that only on males?

im about to be at that stage in flowering and from all ive read that just becomes balls and those are no good. however it might not be all bad. if your stems arent all showing bulges like that it might be a he/she and may be salvagable if you take the time to trim and all that keep us posted.
